Tournament Cancelled
Due to the weather the tournament has been officially cancelled. It is now 2:30pm on Saturday and we still have ice and snow behind the baseline on all of our courts. With the cold temperatures today and tonight anything that thaws will just refreeze. In addition some of the roads in Carrollton are still dangerous. All entry fees will be refunded. If you signed up on line we will mail you a check less the $3.00 tennis link fee. Tennislink fees are non-refundable. Checks will go out this week to the address on file with your USTA membership.

TOURNAMENT UPDATE - Saturday 10:30am
Maybe our idea to call this tourament the frozen open was a bad choice. The courts are a sheet of ice from the fence to the baseline on one side of the net. This part of the courts is shaded by the windscreens and may or may not melt today. We will watch the court conditions as the day goes on and post a new update here by 2:00pm. If the courts do not thaw we MAY have to cancel the tournament. In this event all players will receive a refund less the tennislink fee of $3.00 for those of you who signed up online. AT THIS TIME SUNDAY PLAY IS STILL A GO! I will post a new update here at 2:00pm.

TOURNAMENT DELAYED: Posted Friday 3:00pm
Due to the snow and ice the tournament will not begin until Sunday. NO SATURDAY PLAY. All match time are the same we have just moved them all to Sunday. We still have snow on parts of the courts and many roads are still dangerous. We are concerned the roads and courts will refreeze tonight and make play/travel on Saturday dangerous.

Both the boys 12's and boys 14's have only two players. In these divsions the two players will play each other twice. The first match is a main draw match, the second round will count as a consolation match. This is done to get each palyer two matches. They are set up a a round robin format in accordance with USTA Georgia regulations.

Draw notes:
Wow, this is our smallest tournament ever at Sunset Hills. Last years we had 54 players, this year 20. The cold weather has scared off a lot of players but we will play as scheduled! Draws are now posted on-line here. All division are round robins and ALL play will be completed on Saturday unless we are delayed by weather. No matches begin before 10am to allow it to warm up a little before we get started.

COLD WEATHER UPDATE
I know everyone is concerned about the cold forecast for this weekend. I have had several calls/e-mails from parents asking "What's the plan". First, the tournament will be held, we can't move it to another weekend as it is sanctioned by the USTA Georgia for this weekend. We will schedule matches as late in the morning as possible to allow it to warm up. How late depends on the number of kids that sign up to play. Parents: it is much warmer running around on the courts that sitting a watching, if it's not windy you can play when it's 20 and be fine. We will have hot coffee and hot choc. in the pro shop for players and parents! I will even break out the porch heaters! Bring your blankets and be ready for some winter tennis.
