A WORD REGARDING "OPEN" DIVISIONS
The Open Divisions will not restrict the combined ratings, it IS likely the average combination will be 7.0-8.0.
The Draw is limited to 16 teams, when the draw is full, and the schedule is made, the top 8 teams will be placed in one bracket, the bottom 8 teams will play in the second bracket. Champions and Finalists from both brackets will receive awards.
In the compass draw, with each round opponents will find closer competition in the level of their play but that may be in the winners half, or the non-winners half. So either way, your last match will be your best match!
The Mix Open is a bit more social event, and hopefully competitors will embrace the challenge of playing mixed levels and unknown strengths. You will see husbands/wives, brothers/sisters, etc combine in this type of format, whereas they might not normally have opportunity to play together. Everyone will play the same amount of time/rounds, and everyone will enjoy all the tournament treats and goodies.
(A saavy competitor should encourage other players in their level to register early to help fill the draw)
Hope to see you at the tournament.
