Thank you to all the plaeyrs and parents for helping to make this another successful San Marin Tournament. Special thanks to our Tournament Referee, Max Sylver for all of his time and help.
After over 25 years of running USTA Junior Tournaments this was my last one. I have watched many juniors develop over the years, including my own daughter, and am proud of being able to contribute to their growth as players and persons. I hope all of you will continue to pursue this great sport with honor, integrity, and respect for the game. It has brought me a lifetime of great memories as iI am sure it will do the same for you.
I will still be running the USTA Family Doubles Tournament every year at my new home, the Belvedere Tennis Club in Tiburon, and will remain active with the North Bay Junior Tennis Association. Fern Ruth will take over all of the tournamens held at San Marin with the exception of the NBJTA Finals in October.
Wishing all you the best and thanks for your support.
Sincerely,
Jay Potter

DON'T BE LATE, AVOID PENALTIES, LEAVE EARLY! CONSOLATION MATCHES
Check in at the Location you are assigned. SM=San Marin High. NOV=Novato High. We have a tight schedule and will adhere to the USTA Point Penalty System for Lateness. For every five minutes late, there is a game penalty up to 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, you will be defaulted. If it's your first time coming to the Tournament leave early so you have enough time in the event of problems.
After your first round match, make sure you check back in at the Tournament Desk. If you lose your first match, you will have a Consolation Match following your first match or on Sunday depending on what division you're in and the draw schedule.

GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP AT ALL TIMES!
Our Touranments always pride themselves on the fact that we preach good sportsmanship at all times. This includes shaking your opponent's hand when you first meet for every match and shaking their hands after the match. Being a good sport will get you far in life and you'll make many lifetime friendships. Being a bad sport will limit your opportunities and not gain you any friends.
If you are having problems on the court, come get the Referee or Tournament Director and we will try to resolve the problem. Do not get into shouting matches with your opponents. Make sure your line calls are fair and accurate and if you're not 100% sure, you have to give the point to your opponent. Always call the score out loud enough for your opponent to hear before you start each point. Respect your opponent, respect the game. You play to have fun, always remember that.
Any unsportsmanlike conduct (profanity , throwing racquets, smashing balls, stalling, or cheating) will be dealt with immediately. Remember, this is your warning. The Point Penatly System will be in affect at all times. First offense is a Point taken away, second offense is a Game, and third is a Default. All Point Penalites will be reported to the USTA.
Happy Hitting!
