WEATHER UPDATE - SUNDAY, 10/24/10
Steady rain and high wind storms continue in Folsom. We regret that the Broadstone Jr. Excellence tournament is cancelled. It is very unfortunately that we won't be able to complete the tournament. It wasn't for lack of effort on anyone's part - the weather just did not cooperate this year. Again, thanks to everyone who lent a hand, for your understanding and your support. There are a great group of players and parents in these age groups who we truly enjoy hosting at Broadstone. We hope to see you soon at another tournament. All our best ~Doug & Chrys Atkinson @ Noon
Intermitten rain and high wind in Folsom. Match delay extended until Noon at which time we will be able to make a determination to cancel for the day or try to resume play (highly unlikely). By rule, we are not allowed to cancel for the day until Noon. We will make that call and post the update to the website at that time. A **SPECIAL THANKS** to everyone who helped roll dry courts yesterday. It was a team effort, from tournament staff to parents to players, to get the matches in we were able to. It tests everyone's patience and fortitude in situations such as we've had this weekend. I thank everyone for their understanding in the difficulties we faced due to weather. ~Chrys @ 7:30AM
2 hour delay for morning matches, 1 hour delay for matches from Noon on. Current conditions are wet but no rain and wind (which will help dry the courts). We may get hit by another round of storms. We will update again by 8AM. ~Chrys @ 6AM

Sunday schedules and weather advisory:
We have posted a schedule for Sunday. Please be aware that the forecast is for rain. We will provide an update at 6 AM tomorrow regarding the weather and try to help you in making plans for the day. We will not be able to finish some of the consolation draws and the doubles now regardless of what we do so please check your schedules carefully. If no time is listed, we have not scheduled it to play tomorrow. That event will not be finished in this tournament. We greatly appreciate your understanding of the situation, and apologize for the inconveniences that most of you have definitely experienced.
The formats are best of three tiebreak sets with a match tiebreak in lieu of the third for main draw singles matches. All remaining consolation and doubles matches are the best of an 8-game proset with a 10-point match tiebreak at 8-games all. One-hour rest will be offered between main draw singles matches. For all other rest periods, 1/2-hour will be offered.

SPORTSMANSHIP AT BROADSTONE JR. EXCELLENCE FOR PLAYERS & NON-PLAYERS
The tournament staff and the officials wish to provide a safe, fair, and enjoyable environment for all participants and non-players.
Players: please report to your match site on time and appropriately prepared for play. The Point Penalty System is in effect for lateness and for all inappropriate behavior such as but not limited to swearing, taunting, potential endangerment of others with balls or racket, harming equipment or courts, ball or racket abuse, verbal or physical abuse of a player or official, receipt of coaching, or other acts of poor sportsmanship. First offense is loss of point second offense is loss of game third offense is a default. No warning is necessary in USTA rules. For egregious acts of poor sportsmanship, a player may be defaulted summarily and will be out of all events at the tournament. This default may be appealed to the Tournament Appeals Committee within 15 minutes of the default, and the Tournament Appeals Committee’s decision is final.
All players will be playing under the Code, the PPS, and the NorCal Suspension Point System. All codes as well as inappropriate behavior and sportsmanship will be reported to NorCal for administration of suspension points. These penalties will apply to a player not only for his own acts but also for those acts of people associated with him, such as parents, coaches, and other spectators.
If a player feels that there is inappropriate behavior on or around their court from either his opponent or non-players, the player needs to stop play and come and get an official for assistance. The player needs to take responsibility for his match in this regard because the officials and staff cannot be everywhere.
Players should always remember that a cardinal rule in tennis is that if any part of the ball touches the line, the ball is good. If there is any doubt in the player’s mind, the ball is good. If all players would adhere to this standard, then everyone will just play. Please call the ball the way in which you would want it called for yourself.
Non-Players: Please enjoy the matches and refrain from interjecting yourself into the matches. Encourage your player and be polite to his opponent. If your behavior is less than exemplary, you may be asked to leave the site. Remember that we are guests at all of the venues. The officials and staff are responsible for the grounds and the non-players. If it is perceived that you are interfering in a match, we will ask you to leave. Protection and safety of the players is one of our first priorities.
If you come and participate in this tournament, you have agreed to this stipulation.
Thank you, and have a great tournament.
