SCHEDULE CHANGE:
All matches that were originally scheduled for the second
Saturday, 12/4 have been moved to Sunday, 12/5. Some match times
have also changed. Please check the draws. Sorry for the
inconvenience.
SPECIAL OFFER:
During weekdays between November 15 and
December 3, tournament entrants may make one court reservation per
week to try out the indoor courts by paying a special rate of $10
per person for the guest fee. (Normally, it's $22.) Call the Front
Desk up to 3 days in advance at
510-226-8500 ext 505 (e.g. on Friday for Monday).
DRIVING DIRECTIONS
Note: Do NOT rely on GPS, as some of the
directions on the Internet have NOT been updated since the Mission
Blvd - Hwy 880 interchange was completed. Please use these
directions:
From highway 880 (going either north or south), exit at Warren Blvd
and go west (towards the Bay). The club is just past the Hyatt
Place Hotel on the right side of Warren, at the corner of Landing
Pkwy. From highway 680, take the southern Mission Blvd exit and go
west (toward the Bay). At Warm Springs Blvd, turn left (south) and
go one block to the stoplight at Warren Ave. Turn right, cross the
railroad tracks
(at which there is sometimes a long delay for a
train), and cross over highway 880, where you'll see the Hyatt
Place Hotel, with ClubSport just past it.
ENTRY INFORMATION:
Until we actually make all the draws, we cannot tell how the
schedule of matches will shake out. In other words, we cannot tell
if a flight will only be played on one weekend. So when entering,
you should plan on being available to play both weekends.
If you just have a few hours on one day during which you cannot
play, we can often work around your time constraint. In that case,
send an email to lparker@clubsports.com, listing the starting and
ending times that you are not able to be at the club, and the
reason for the time constraint. If it does not work out and we
cannot put you into the draw, we will either not charge your credit
card or refund (by check) your entry fee a few weeks after the
tournament is finished.
Players may enter at most 1 singles event and 1
doubles event. In other words, players may enter singles and
doubles, or singles and mixed, but not singles and doubles and
mixed, nor mens or womens doubles and mixed, nor singles or doubles
in two divisions (like 3.0 and 4.0).
Doubles players must enter with a partner and both partners must
submit an entry online.
Draws must have a minimum of 3 entries. Draws may be limited to 24
or 32 depending on the total number of entrants in the whole
tournament. According to USTA NorCal regulations, entry is
NOT on a FIRST COME - FIRST SERVED basis.
If needed, teams/players will randomly be pulled out of the largest
draws and placed on the alternate list. If they do not get to play,
their entry fee will either not be charged to their credit card or
refunded by check a few weeks after the tournament is
completed.
If a player must withdraw from the tournament before the entry
deadline, it can be done online at the entry website. If a player
must withdraw from the tournament after the
entry deadline, contact the Tournament Director at 510-226-8500
ext.516 AND at lparker@clubsports.com.

6.
Play is planned to be on the 5 indoor
courts. Thus, barring numerous 3 set matches, the tournament
stays on schedule fairly well. The outdoor courts
may be used at the Chairman's discretion, and one is
set aside for the tournament, which may be used for warm-up if it
is not used for matches. Outdoor matches may be played under
lights. Some matches will be played in the EVENING. (Matches may be
played at ClubSport Pleasanton, if absolutely necessary.)
7. Although 2 of the 3 outdoor courts are available to members to
reserve, if they are open during the tournament, they may be used
by tournament entrants for warm-up. Also, the indoor courts are
available 30 minutes prior to the first matches of the day (8:00 on
the first 2 days and 9:00 on the final Sunday) for warm-up on a
first come first served basis, while the referee sets up the
courts.
8. Matches are the best 2 out of 3 sets, regular scoring, with a
regular 7 point tie-break at six all. An alternative scoring system
(e.g. a 10 point tie-break in lieu of the 3rd set) may be used, if
necessary. All events are single elimination.
9. Pro-Penn extra duty balls are used.
10. One complimentary t-shirt per player. Complimentary snacks
throughout tournament.
11. Ringers on all cell phones must be turned off when in the
tennis court area.
12. Special rates are available at the Hyatt Place Hotel, which is
next door to the club. Please contact the tournament director
first, before making reservation.
13. Many players fill out the online
evaluation form after
completing the event. Please go to
http://www.ustanorcal.com/tournaments/Tournament_eval.asp
Thank you.
