The 2010 USTA Boys' and Girls’ 14 Zone Team Championship is a USTA Junior National Championship and is sanctioned by the USTA Youth Competition and Training Committee. Check-in
Tournament check-in is scheduled for Tuesday, July 27, 12:00-2:00 PM. Check-in is mandatory. In addition to important information about the tournament, players will need to confirm cell phone numbers with tournament staff, and they will receive player bags, including T-shirts and area dining/entertainment coupons.

A light lunch will be provided on site, free of charge each day of the tournament, Wednesday-Sunday, for the players and coaches, from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm, courtesy of Ventana Grille.

Practice Courts
- Practice courts will be available at ATC throughout the tournament. Coaches will be given information on practice courts at the coaches' meeting on Tuesday, July 27.
- In addition to practice courts at Arlington Tennis Center, area park courts are available on a first come, first served basis.

Format and Scoring
- Singles team lineups are determined by the Section. Doubles team lineups are determined by the coaches.
- All singles will be best of three tie-break sets. Doubles will be eight-game pro sets (seven-point tie-break at eight games all).
- Teams will be divided into two flights, but will not be seeded.
- Days 1-3: The Round Robin team format will be used for the first three rounds, consisting of 12 singles matches, four doubles matches and two mixed doubles matches.
Mixed doubles matches count towards the team score, but results do not count for national rankings.
Day 4: The Round Robin format will consist of 12 singles matches and six doubles matches.
Each singles, doubles and mixed doubles match counts for one point. The team that wins the most points (maximum of 18) is the winner of the Team Match.
All Team Matches count as one point for the winning team. The team with the most points in its flight is the first place team. The team with the second most points in its flight is the second place team, etc. A specific process will be used to determine winners in the event of a tie.
Day 5: The first place teams in each flight will play off for first and second place using the same format as Day 4 (no mixed doubles).
There is no playoff for third place. However, teams not in the Championship Team Match will be paired for playoff matches consisting of singles only.

Coaching
Coaches are selected by the Sections. Players may receive coaching on changeovers or set breaks on court at the netpost where players rest, or off court from behind the court and outside the fence. Coaches may enter the court only on changeovers or set breaks, and coaching must not interfere with play on other courts.

Awards
The USTA will provide gold and silver medallions for team members winning first and second place. All other players will receive pewter medallions. In addition, the USTA will also provide sportsmanship awards for one boy and one girl from each team (selected by their Sectional coaches).

Arlington Tennis Center has arranged a partnership with the University of Texas at Arlington's Athletic Department to provide a trainer on site during the primary hours of the tournament. (We sincerely hope that you do not require the trainer's services.)

Official Ball
Wilson US Open balls are provided by the USTA and are the official ball of this tournament. Players will be provided with three balls for each match, with new balls for third sets.
|
|
Scorekeepers & Court Boards
Players will use scorekeepers on court during matches to avoid scoring disputes. Each court will also have an identification board on the gate for players to list what teams are playing on that court.
|
|
Match Board
A match board will be located near the tournament desk indicating what teams are on court. The match board will also indicate the standings of each team at the end of the day.
|
|
Racquet Stringing
Arlington Tennis Center's stringing staff is among the most experienced in our area, and we will offer 24-hour service for tournament players during the five-day event. In some cases, stringing may be available on the same day. Cost is $14 for labor (plus string).
|
|
Photographer
A professional sports photographer, Tessa Kolodny, will be on site during the tournament and will be taking the team pictures on Tuesday, July 27. Ms. Kolodny specializes in sports photography and has photographed events including USTA Pro Circuits and ATP tournaments, Challengers and Futures. Advance Planning
- Alcoholic Beverages: Alcoholic Beverages are prohibited on the property (including the parking lot).
- Cell Phones: Please note that players may NOT use cell phones on court or in the Tournament room. Please turn them OFF. Spectators who use cell phones on the property should be mindful of whether their conversations interfere with tournament play (in which case, they will be asked to leave the area or turn the phone off) or normal business operations of the facility. Thank you for your cooperation.
- Dress Code: We ask that all players and spectators wear traditional attire appropriate for a family tennis environment. All guests (players and spectators) are required to wear shirts (including ladies wearing shirts over sports bras), and no bare stomachs / abdomens. Shorts and skirts should be of an appropriate length, as well. Players who do not dress appropriately will be asked to adjust their attire.
- Pets: Pets are prohibited in the Arlington Tennis Center proshop/building and inside the fenced areas around the courts.
- Smoking: Smoking is prohibited in the Arlington Tennis Center proshop/building & inside the fenced areas around the courts.
- Spectators: We welcome spectators for this event! However, spectators are not allowed on court at any time.
- Videos / Photography: Videotaping or taking photographs by individuals is allowed only for personal use. Videotaping and photography of players other than those for whom the person taking the photograph is responsible (guardian) is prohibited other than by the professional photographer arranged for by Arlington Tennis Center.
- Water: Water coolers are not on placed on courts at Arlington Tennis Center. However, players will be given free sports bottles in their gift bags at check-in, and a commercial ice machine and water fountain are located on the west patio. Players and guests are also welcome to purchase bottled water, fountain drinks, sports drinks and juices in the proshop, and players may bring their own water jugs on court.
