*** FRIDAY SINGLES BACKDRAW MATCHES ***
Due to indoor schedluing overlap at Elysium on Friday July 3, the mens and womens singles consolation matches have been moved back 45 minutes to an hour. If you are in the consolation rounds, please check the draw, on line, for the new time. Front draw matches are not affected. Once again, consolation matches will use a match tie break to replace the third set if the first 2 sets are split.
|
Singles Backdraw Matches
All divisions - all singles backdraw consolation matches will use the match tie break in place of the third set. If players split the first 2 sets, the match tie break will be used. The first player to ten points by a 2 point margin will be the winner of the match.
|
Third Place Matches
All divisions will have a playoff for third place. It will be similar to a consolation match in that a match tie break will be used if the first 2 sets are split. If you lose in the semi finals, the third place match will determine who gets the third place money. So, please make sure you stick around.

Towels
Players - please bring your own towels for use on the court. There are towels available at Elysium for use in the locker rooms, with the deposit of a drivers license or credit card, which will be reurned upon return of the towel. Regretfully this is now required due to the loss of hundreds of dollars worth of towels during past tournaments. They were probably all innocently carrried away, but they are expensive to continually replace. Thanks for your understanding.

Area Hotels
Though Elysium Tennis has a Plain City mailing address, the club is located on the western edge of Dublin, on the northwest edge of Columbus, Ohio. From experience, to get the best deals, it is best to call hotels directly, rather than going through the corporate reservation desk, usually located in another country. The phone numbers are listed for each hotel. Here is a list of the hotels that are closest to the tennis club. They are all located on the I-270 outerbelt or Route 33 on the Northwest side of Columbus, and are within three miles and a five minute drive of the club.

Communications - preferred method
The preferred mode of communication for the Midwest Hardcourts is via email. It gives the committee the ability to review exactly what a player is asking or concerned about. No information is passed along second hand, and there are few questions when the response is in print. It also leaves a time stamp which has basically ended the process of claiming a message was left before any of the time constraints for registration or witdrawal. Please direct your emails to the Director's email address listed above.
|
General Schedule of Play
In years past, the general schedule is usually as follows: July 1 and 2, beginning Wednesday afternoon and all of Thursday, are all mens and womens open singles. These are always the 2 largest draws and it takes 2 days to usually get them down to the quarterfinals. All other singles, 35, 45, 55, 65, and all the doubles events, begin on Friday, July 3.
|
Seeding Info - Email Us
Please send the seeding committee any pertinent seeding information that you may have, if you want to be considered for a seed, to the Directors email listed above. We make every attempt and spend many hours going over rankings and records to ensure we make the seedings in every division as equitable as possible. PLEASE INCLUDE - your USTA number and a cell phone number where we can contact you if we have any questions.
|
DOuBLES REGISTRATION EXTEDED
We have extended the doubles deadline until Monday night at 11 PM. It gives everyone an extra day to see who is signed up to play in other events, and have a chance to make contact with one another in case you want to get together and form a team. All of the doubles events will not start until Friday at the earliest. *** EMAIL US WITH YOU AND YOUR PARTNERS USTA NUMBERS AND THE EVENT YOU WISH TO PLAY *** We will collect the money before your first match.
