Congratulations Erin Larner (#4 seed) from Portland, Oregon for winning the 39th annual MCB Girls' 14 Championships at TBARM in Dallas, Texas. The sportsmanship award was presented to Sydney Young from Austin, Tx.
Honorable mention: Nan Porter from Amarillo, Tx.
It was nice meeting you and we appreciate your participation in the tournament. You were able to see a rare event in Dallas - snow! I want to thank all players for displaying outstanding sportsmanship over the weekend and you all should be very proud in reaching this outstanding level of play.
Cindy Brinker Simmons, Maureen Connolly's daughter, enjoyed meeting you today and was thrilled to present the trophies to all of the outstanding players. She was very impressed with the wonderful tennis and the sportsmanship displayed. Please google Maureen Connolly sometime to read more about her life and accomplishments. She was a remarkable lady who just happened to be a great tennis player - just like all of you!
We hope you will join us again next year if you are still eligible. If not, keep up the good work and we will be watching your progress. On behalf of Carol Linden, referee, and myself, thanks again.
Warmest regards,
Carol Weyman

Maureen Connolly Brinker
The event is named after Maureen Connolly, who was known as "Little Mo". She was the first woman to win the Grand Slam - winning all four major tournaments in one calendar year (Australian, French, Wimbledon, and U.S.Open). She was only 18 years old when she accomplished this magnificent feat in 1953. She is still the youngest and only American woman who has won the Grand Slam. This is the 39th annual MCB Girls 14 National Championships.
