Springhurst New Years Classic-KY L2-STA L3

Thanks to everyone for their patience in working through all these matches !! We have played OVER 450 matches in TWO DAYS.... doubles, singles, and a FULL FEED IN. I have directed tournaments for 25 years (including National Championships) are I am SHOCKED that we made it through the first two days since we were dealing with a massive shortage of courts due to Fern Valley closing. THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR THEIR PATIENCE. YOU ALL HAVE BEEN GREAT !! At least we did not have to play outdoors in 30 degree weather.....Also I have traveled to MANY tournaments where we made it to the last day and are still in the second round due to rain !! So all in all things are GREAT here at the New Years Classic 2010.

Some things to note for Saturday:

1. We have another LONG day in front of us tommorrow. Again several of the backdraws will not play the finals. We will play as long as we can tomorrow in the backdraws considering the courts available and scheduling regulations.

2. We WILL NOT be able to move any matches earlier tomorrow and we apologize if that upsets your travel plans...... Just remember that the only reason that you are still here is that you are WINNING !!!!!! There are tons of people that played this tournament that would love to be in your position, so sit back, play some tennis, and enjoy the fact you are still playing !!!!

3. Also if you get a chance tomorrow, please thank the DESK WORKERS !! They are all volunteer parents of our junior players and have done a TREMENDOUS JOB with long hours and lots of people and matches. Without their help, OUR KIDS DO NOT HAVE A CHANCE TO PLAY IN THESE TOURNAMENTS.

The singles draws are now posted. Please read the following:

1. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO NOTE YOUR SITE. WE HAVE A PACKED SCHEDULE FOR THIS TOURNAMENT AS SEVERAL OF THE DIVISIONS ARE PLAYING AT DIFFERENT SITES !! WE WILL NOT HAVE TIME TO ALLOW YOU TO TRAVEL TO THE CORRECT SITE IF YOU SHOW UP AT THE WRONG SITE.

2. We are playing as much doubles as possible to start the day on Thursday.... You may play two rounds of doubles on Thursday !!

3. YOUR DRAW MAY CHANGE DUE TO WITHDRAWALS, ETC....As much as possible we will try to notify you but it is YOUR responsibility to find out your match time. REMEMBER, a last second withdrawal could mean that you do not play any singles matches on Thursday so keep checking.

4. Due to the record turnout and the fact that one of our alternate sites has closed their doors forever, we will be unable to complete the backdraw in several events. This has been OK'ed by officials from the USTA KY and USTA Southern office. THANKS !!!

Doubles Draws are now posted with the exception of Boys 10s which will be posted tomorrow. PLEASE NOTE :

1. Those of you who were looking for a partner and we unable to find one MAY have been partnered with someone in the draw. PLEASE CHECK TO SEE IF YOU WERE PARTNERED WITH SOMEONE. We have tried to email those people but we may have missed some of you.

2. Doubles is an 8 game pro set and some of you will play BACK TO BACK Doubles matches. There is NO 30 minute rest period between two pro set matches.

3. Please make sure you check your SITE for doubles.... it may be different then singles.

4. There were a couple of you who we were not able to partner with someone. We apologize but we were in a situation in those draws where we had an uneven number and you cannot play doubles by yourself. We are keeping a list and if someone withdraws in your division, we will contact you to see if you would like to replace them in the doubles.

Practice courts will be available from 3:00-9:00pm at The Tennis Club at Springhurst on Wednesday December 30th for a cost of $20.00 per hour per court. These courts MUST be booked in advance by calling (502) 412-2950. Please specify that you are with the tournament.

During tournament play, The Tennis Club at Springhurst will be open at 6:30am each day of the tournament. We will have 8 courts reserved for tournament warmup and practice starting at 6:30am. We will have times available from 6:30-7:00, 7:00-7:30am, and 7:30-8:00am. Due to the limited practice courts, the warmups will be 4 players per court for $3.00 each. You must reserve your spots and PAY IN ADVANCE for the morning warmup times. All alternate sites will be open by 7:30am each day of the matches. There will be NO ADVANCE booking of warmup courts at alternate sites.

All matches will use the GAMMA Pro Tour Ball

USRSA Certified Racquet Stringing will be available at The Tennis Club at Springhurst. We have a wide variety of strings available. Cost with your own string for tournament participants is $15.00.

Singles Draws will be 32 with a Full Feed In through the Quarters and 3/4 playoff. Main Draw will be best two out of three tiebreak sets. Feed in will be best of three sets playing a 10 point tiebreak in lieu of a third set. Doubles is single elimination with 8 game pro set.
