There will be a season-ending awards party Sat. Aug. 1st for all players, parents, and coaches. The party will be at Greenmont Racquet Club from 5:00-7:00. Come dressed to play tennis and there will be some food. We hope to see you all there!!! It has been decided to award trophies through 6th Place (see conditions below under Standings and Awards).

The biannual Rotary Tournament will be held Aug. 7-8 (9th if needed) at Greenmont Racquet Club. This is a charity tournament for all ages and levels to play. We encourage MOVTA junior players, as well as any parents or friends who play tennis, to participate. Have fun and play tennis for a good cause!! Registration forms available at Greenmont. If a player signs up but fails to show up, he/she will lose by default. The MOVTA decided to pardon all defaults for the season. The original rule of a default score as 1-0 will not be used. The reason for the change is that this rule skewed results too much, and the defaults were very evenly distributed by population weight among the teams. Also, unfairness existed among the random players who RECEIVED free points by default.

Currently posted draws are for July 30. The B14s is incomplete due to rain.

There will be weekly mini-tournaments for Boys and Girls 12 & under, 14 & under, and 18 & under age divisions. Mini-tournaments are on Thursdays (see schedule under Tournament Reports). You must sign up each week by 6:00 p.m. Wednesday to get in that week's tournament. Sign up with your coach at your team site or else by emailing movtasummer@att.net

Players will earn points individually and also for their team. You do not have to be on a team to participate. Teams this year: City Park, Country Club, Erickson, Greenmont, Jackson Park, North Hills, and Southwood. Your fees are collected by your team's program. If not on a team, you must pay $20.00 to the MOVTA for league fees---contact movtasummer@att.net to sign up as an individual. Please note that the $3.00 entry fee listed above on this website does not apply to this league.

In the event of rain, matches will be cancelled. Please be aware that often the summer brings scattered showers. It may be raining at your house but not at the tennis site. Also, if it rains in the morning but match time is in the afternoon, matches should go on if courts are dry. If rain begins during play, all completed games will count (if one player reached min 4). Please report scores!

Standings will be updated weekly. These can be viewed at TennisEngine.com--to see standings, click on "more info" at end of this paragraph and then scroll to MOVTA--Individual Standings or MOVTA--Team Standings. Please note that a player must play in at least 3 mini-tournaments in a given age division to be eligible for individual awards in that division. A team must have at least two players who each play in at least 3 mini-tournaments to be eligible for team awards in a given division. Awards will be given to the top 6 individuals and to the top team in each age division. League standings are based on numerous factors including wins, closeness of scores, strength of opponent, and results against common opponents. Order of matches is not considered (so more recent results have no precedence over less recent). The MOVTA reserves the right to make decisions on standings that override TennisEngine calculations (tennisengine software is used as a major guide, but is not always THE final decision maker). more info

Quickstart Tennis will be held at Erickson on Friday mornings for 10 & unders and also for 8 & unders. Quickstart features smaller nets, courts, and racquets and slower balls to promote faster tennis game development. 8 & unders are at 10:00 a.m. and 10 & unders are at 11:00 a.m. at Erickson Fridays.
