ALL MATCHES FOR SUNDAY HAVE BEEN CANCELLED! CONSOLATION MATCHES have been cancelled.
We are trying to schedule all Semi-finals and Final matches for a convenient time in the coming week.

The Sumter Tennis Association would like to thank all of the participants who played in our 2009 Chick-Fil-A Winter Chill Challenge. We enjoyed having you in our tournament, and we hope that you will come back and join us in our next one, the Palmetto Adult Classic June 26-28, 2009.

TOURNAMENT UPDATE:
Due to the extremely cold weather that is expected Friday, we will NOT have any matches on Friday.
Match play will begin at 10am Saturday morning. Also, due to the cold weather,a 10 point tie-break will be used for all matches in lieu of 3rd Set.
CHICK-FIL-A will be serving breakfast at the tournament site beginning at 9am Saturday morning. We will have a large heated area available to enjoy your breakfast in.

WELCOME:
Welcome to the Chick-Fil-A Winter Chill Challenge presented by the Sumter Tennis Association. It is held at the Palmetto Tennis Center, one of the finest tennis facilites in our state. We are pleased to offer the 1st tournament of 2009, including both adult and senior events.

FOOD AND BEVERAGES:
CHICK-FIL-A is our main sponsor for the tournament. On Saturday morning, they will offer breakfast items for all players at the tournament site including chicken biscuits, minis, fruit cups and coffee. Also, CHICK-FIL-A will provide a coupon to all entrants to be redeemed at the local restaurant anytime on Saturday, January 17 for 1 entree, side, and beverage of your choice.
On Sunday morning, delicious donuts will be provided for players by MURRAYS.
Coffee and Hot Chocolate, as well as Gatorade, fruit and snacks will be provided for players throughout the tournament, Friday - Sunday.

PLAYER AMENITIES:
All players will receive a Long-Sleeve Micro-Fiber shirt!
Excellent door prizes will be given away as well, including a BABOLAT DRIVE Z.O.S. racquet, and gift certificates from Outback Steakhouse and Yucatan Mexican Restaurant.
We will provide a roomy, HEATED area for players to relax in, in addition to the pro shop at the tennis center.

MATCH PLAY:
We will now use a 10 point tie-break in lieu of 3rd sets for ALL matches, main draw and consolation matches. USTA rules will be observed. Point penalty system will be used. Penalities may be assessed for lateness as determined by the Referee, who is the official timekeeper.
Players should check-in 30 MINUTES prior to their first scheduled match.
Check-in for all matches will be at the Tournament Desk located in the PTC pro shop.
After checking in, players must remain near the check-in area and be readily available for court assignments.
All matches will be played at the Palmetto Tennis Center on hard courts.
Warm-up is limited to 5 minutes, unless extended by the Referee.
Players entering two events should expect to play multiple matches with minimum rest between events.
ALL PLAYERS SHOULD RETURN TO THE TOURNAMENT DESK AFTER EACH MATCH TO CONFIRM MATCH SCHEDULE.

AWARDS:
Awards will be given to the Winner & Finalist in all events, unless there are 3 or less in an event, and then only the Winner will receive an award.

CONSOLATION:
A First Match Losers Consolation (FMLC) will be offered. In Consolation Matches, a 10 point tie-break will be played in lieu of 3rd set. You must inform the Tournament Desk after losing your first match if you would like to participate in the consolation match. Consolation matches may be cancelled in the event of inclement weather.

DRAWS:
Draws will be posted on Thursday, January 15th. No refunds will be given after registration closes.
In events that have 4 or less entrants, a Round Robin format will be used.

INCLEMENT WEATHER:
If inclement weather affects tournament play, any time changes will be announced at the site, AND posted online on THIS page for all players in advance. Players should review webpage regularly for updates.

BALLS:
Wilson Championship balls will be used for the tournament.
|
|
AVOIDANCE REQUESTS:
Any requests for avoidances or other accomodations should be E-MAILED to the Tournament Director NO later than Monday, January 12. Requests will be honored to the extent possible by the Tournament Director however, the number or requests and number of players in various events may limit the availability of avoidances.

SEEDING INFORMATION:
If there is any information that you would like us to consider regarding seeding in the event(s) you are entering, specifically 2008 Ranking or 2008 Tournaments, please E-MAIL the Tournament Director no later than Monday, January 12.

DIRECTIONS:
Coming from Highway 378 East, turn Left onto Alice Dr. at Arby's. Coming from Highway 378 West, turn right onto Alice Drive at Arby's. Continue on Alice Drive and at the second light, turn left onto Wise Drive at Wards BBQ. Take the first right onto Theater Drive. The Palmetto Tennis Center will be just down the street on the right. Turn right into the main parking lot.

No Selection Process. All registered players will be selected.
Entry to this tournament is open to all USTA members. Entries must be submitted by Monday, January 12, 2009 11:59:00 PM Eastern Time. Only USTA members can register online if available.
