Welcome!
This is the 26th annual Kiawah Island Junior Clay Court Championship co-sponsored by K-Swiss, Coca-Cola Bottling, Cons., and Image Network. It has grown to be one of the largest tournaments in the South. All participants will be given a tournament t-shirt. Bananas, hot chocolate, coffee, and donuts will be offered daily. Lunch will be sold at the West Beach Tennis Club on Saturday and Sunday from 11:30 – 1:30pm.

SPECIAL VILLA RATES
Special accommodation rates are available in one, two, or three bedroom villas. One bedroom
Villas are $155/night two bedroom villas are $189/night, and three bedroom villas are $205/night. Rates are based on availability and are subject to an 11.5% tax and an 8% service fee.

FIRST MATCH TIMES
First Match Times are posted in the report listed above and posted on the draws. You may also call the Roy Barth Tennis Center after 1:00 PM on Monday, October 12 at 843-768-2838. The only age divisions that will play on Friday afternoon, will be BOYS' AND GIRLS' 14 SINGLES. They may have to play as early as 2:00pm. All other age divisons will not begin until Saturday morning.

ON SITE ALTERNATES
ON SITE ALTERNATES: "On Site" Alternates must register at the main site tournament desk. You can inform the Tournament Referee on Friday night or before that you plan to be an On-Site Alternate. Please make sure we have accurate contact information for you to be reached during the weekend. On-Site Alternates will be selected in the order of the Alternates List. On Site Alternates should be on-site when their age and gender check in for play in the first round.

DIRECTIONS ON ISLAND
Once you enter the main security gate, you will be on Kiawah Island Parkway. You will take the first right onto Kiawah Beach Drive. Follow this until you reach a stop sign and then turn left onto Shipwatch Road. The West Beach Tennis Center (Tournament Headquarters and Registration) will be on your immediate left. The Straw Market Shops (Shrimper restaurant) are across the street from the tennis center on your right as you travel down Shipwatch Road. You can park in the spaces just off the road on the left or in the Straw Market Shopping Center parking lot on your right immediately past the entrance to the Straw Market Shops. If you need directions by phone, please call 843/768-2820. If you have a navigation system, then you should enter just the street name, Shipwatch Road, and Kiawah Island.

BOYS' 18S DRAW
The Boys 18s Singles draw had several changes today due to players having to withdraw for illness. Please verify your match time and new opponents (in some cases) on the draw. Please do not hesitate to call, if you have any questions. Thank you!

NO THIRD SET
A 10 POINT MATCH TIE-BREAKER will be used instead of a 3rd set for all 10s singles and up until the quarter-finals for boys and girls 12s, 14s, 16s, and 18s singles matches.

CONSOLATION INFORMATION
NO CONSOLATION matches for the 14’s, 16’s, and 18’s. There will be a one ‘first match losers only’ consolation match for the boys and girls 10’s and 12’s singles events which will be held on
Sunday.

DOUBLES FORMAT
We will be playing 8 game pro sets for doubles throught the semifinals and a 2 out of 3 set match with a match tiebreak in lieu of the third set for the finals.

WITHDRAWALS
The entry fee will not be refunded after the deadline unless you were not accepted into the draw. All withdrawals must be done in writing to the tournament director: jonathan_barth@kiawahresort.com

SELECTION PROCESS
In draws of 32 the top 32 players applying from the USTA/Southern latest STANDINGS LIST will be selected consisting of a minimum of 28 players from the current age group and up to 4 players from the younger age group who meet the criteria: they are eligible for the younger age group they have a southern standing in the top 40 of the younger age group, and are not already in the selected 28. In draws of 64(Boys & Girls 14’s singles) selections will be a minimum of 56 from the current age group and up to 8 players from the younger age group who do not get in the first 56,and who are in the top 80 of the Southern Standings in the lower age group at the time of selection. This applies to all age groups except the 10's. The 10's selection criteria will be strictly from the Southern Standings. ALL COMPETITORS are selected by the USTA Southern section. ONCE YOU ARE SELECTED INTO AN AGE DIVISION, NO CHANGES WILL BE MADE. The names of the players who have been selected appear as COMPETITORS. Alternates are listed in the REPORT SECTION. DO NOT REFER TO THE ALTERNATES ON THE FAR LEFT SIDE OF THE WEB PAGE. Alternates-Accepted and On Site that are accepted in the tournament will be placed into the draw (as long they do not affect the seeding) and will be notified by the tournament. See additional information below for onsite alternates. Please check list daily as they are updated as we have new information.

DOUBLES RANKING POINTS
You will receive ranking points from your doubles results at a USTA National Level 5 towards your combined ranking.

INCLEMENT WEATHER
In case of inclement weather tournament officials reserve the right to use a 10 point match tie-breaker in lieu of the third set FOR ALL EVENTS AND ROUNDS. We also can use No-Ad for singles and doubles.

SEEDING
SEEDING- NEW 2009!
USTA Southern Level 1, 2 and 3 Tournaments. SINGLES SEEDING CRITERIA Seeding shall be done using only the results from most recently published USTA Southern Combined Standings Lists of the division in the order in which players appear on the list. Definition of Most Recently Published USTA Southern Combined Standings Lists: Southern Designated Published List at least 8 days prior to tournament start. In addition to the list, other criteria to consider: Players who have a standing in the next younger age division may be seeded in any group of seeds if they are in the top 10 of the most recently published USTA Southern Combined Standings Lists of any younger age division. Players with current top 50 USTA National standing, top 100 ITF ranking, top 1000 ATP or WTA rankings should be considered for seeding

ENTERING TWO DIVISIONS
REGISTERING FOR TWO DIVISONS: Players are allowed to enter two divisions with these guidelines: (1) Players selected to both age divisions they apply for will automatically be selected to the older age division. They will be removed from the other age division. (2) Players not selected to either division would remain on the alternate’s lists for both divisions but would be obligated to play the division they first get in, from the alt. list. They will be removed from the Alternate list in the other division. (3) Players selected to one age division will be removed from the alternates list of the other division. (4) Once a player is selected for any one division no changes can be made.

ENTERING TWO TOURNAMENTS
ENTERING TWO TOURNAMENTS: Players are cautioned not to enter two tournaments at the same time. Suggestions to avoid being penalized: If you are listed on the Alternate List, you must with-draw from the Alternate List first and then enter the 2nd Tournament. Tournaments have been assigned different deadlines that will allow you time to make your changes.

ALTERNATES
ALTERNATES: The alternates by Event Report will be updated daily. Contact us immediately if you realize that you cannot come. It is the alternate's responsibility to check the website to see if your alternate status has changed. The tournament will make every effort to contact you if your status changes and as a result you are selected to play in the tournament. You should make sure your contact information is correct on your membership profile. The tournament will not be responsible for a player not selected in the event the tournament cannot contact him/her due to incorrect or outdated contact information. Once an alternate is selected for play, payment is due immediately. (Payments are not made on line for alternates).

USTA REGULATIONS
USTA Regulations will be followed and the point penalty system will be enforced.

Players are selected manually by the tournament director after the close of registration.
Entry to this tournament is restricted. Please consult your Section or District rules and regulations for entry requirements for this tournament. If you enter this tournament and are not eligible, any refund is as the discretion of the Tournament Director. Only USTA members can register online if available.
