Medical Release Forms have to be completed and signed by the PARENT OR LEGAL GUARDIAN..Parents, please do not send your child without this form completed. This form must be completed in order to check in.

The official tournament ball is Dunlop. All matches will be played on hard courts. GIRLS 18 division will be played on INDOOR hard courts at Leftwich and Eldon Roark tennis centers.

April 17, 2009, 4pm-10:00 pm at Hyatt Place 1220 Primacy Parkway Memphis, TN 38119 The check-in is mandatory. We are staying until 10:00 pm for your convenience. If a situation arises and you miss the check-in you will need to do the following: 1. Make sure your entry fee has been paid by Friday night - check the Tournament Entry Fee Report. 2. Show up 30 minutes before your match time if you are playing at Leftwich Tennis Center. If you are playing at another site, you will have to check in at Leftwich Tennis Center before you go to the other site. Be sure to provide ample time to make it to your site 30 minutes before scheduled time. 3. Those of you playing 8:00 am matches will need to be ready to be on your assigned court at 7:45 am. Make sure you allow yourself plenty of time. On Saturday we will have a limited staff checking in players for the tournament (those that did not come the night before). This is not enough to check in everyone 30 minutes before their match times. If you are not on your court by your assigned time, you will be penalized. Because you did not check-in the night before, is no excuse for being late for your match. You cannot play your match until you have checked in for the tournament. If there is a line that causes you to be late for your match, unfortunately that will be your problem that could have been avoided. Therefore, we urge all of you to check in on Friday this includes locals, commuters and travelers. We will be here until 10:00pm on Friday. Thank you for your cooperation.

DO NOT tell anyone at the desk and think you have properly defaulted. You must see the head referee in person or it will be counted as a “No Show” which carries a penalty of 5 suspension points. No telephone withdrawals will be accepted.

ORDERED ALTERNATES REPORT This is the order alternates will replace any withdrawals originally selected from the Standings List. (This report will be posted after selections.) PAYMENT If you accept a spot, you will have to overnight your entry fee - Check made payable to Tennis Memphis, c/o Leftwich Tennis Center, 4145 Southern Avenue, Memphis, TN, 38117. Entry fee is $48.88. Since you were not selected in the initial batch, your credit card was never processed. Your acceptance is not final until entry fee has been received. POINT OF NO RETURN If is your obligation to notify us if you have reached the "point of no return" for travelling. We understand that some of you may not be able to come at a moments notice if a spot opens. Please be courteous and withdraw from the alternates list if you know you cannot travel. We have to contact alternates in order, even though it may be the night before the tournament. We cannot know your intent until you tell us. As long as you are on the Alternates by Event Report, we assume you can still attend. LATE ENTRIES Anyone wanting to enter the tournament after registration closes has to email slang@tennismemphis.org. If there are alternates in the division you wish to enter, late entries will go below all other alternates, regardless of ranking. ON-SITE ALTERNATES Need to report to the correct site for your age division 30 minutes before the start of play and must be present for all starting match times. If there is more than one on-site alternate, selection is based on the ordered alternate list.

All main draw matches will be best out of 3 sets. All consolation matches will be best 2 out of 3 sets with a tie-breaker in lieu of the 3rd set. The 3rd set tie-breaker will be a match tie-break played to 10 points with a margin of 2 points. The consolation will be a full feed-in consolation through the quarterfinals. There will be a play-off for 3rd and 4th place in the main draw. Schedule of play (for a 64 draw): Saturday: 2 rounds of Main Draw, 1 round Consolation Sunday: 2 rounds Main Draw, 3 rounds Consolation Monday: 2 rounds Main Draw, 3 rounds Consolation Weather Delays: We may use short scoring in the Main Draw in order to stay on schedule. REMEMBER, NOTHING CANCELS UNLESS IT ALL CANCELS. DO NOT ASSUME ANYTHING IS CANCELED IF INCLIMATE WEATHER OCCURS. INDOOR BACKUP IS AVAILABLE AND WILL BE USED.

NEW RULE FOR MATCH CHECK-IN: Regulation IV.A.2 now states "the referee may penalize a player who is on site for lateness if a court is available and the player has failed to check-in at the tournament desk by the scheduled match time." THIS MEANS, IF THERE IS 1 OPEN COURT AT 10:00 AND THERE ARE 3 MATCHES TO PUT ON: THE REFEREE WILL START THE CLOCK FOR LATENESS FOR ANYONE WHO HAS NOT CHECKED IN FOR 10:00- EVEN THOUGH THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH COURTS FOR ALL 3 MATCHES.

Players are allowed to enter two divisions with the these guidelines. (This is for selection only you cannot play two divisions at one tournament) 1. Players selected to both age divisions they apply for, will automatically be selected to the older age division. They would be removed from the younger age division. 2. Players not selected to either division would remain on the alternate's lists for both divisions but would be obligated to play the division they first get in, from the alternate list. They would be removed from the Alternates list in the other division. 3. Players selected to one age division would be removed from the alternates list of the division they were not selected. 4. Once a player is selected for any one division no changes can be made.

Do not enter 2 tournaments at the same time. How to avoid penalties: If you end up on the alternate list, you must withdraw from the alternate list FIRST, and THEN enter the 2nd tournament. Tournaments have different deadlines that will allow you time to make your changes.

In matches without an official on court players are expected to follow the code.

Tournament sites use conduct rules above and beyond those enforced by the USTA. Players participating in tournaments at the facilities identified are required to abide by these rules of behavior on and off the court. These rules also apply to parents, coaches, siblings, and other guests of the players. The list below indicates the Facility Behavior Rules: No use of the word "suck" or any form of the word spoken or spelled. No use of expressions of frustrations with references to deities (i.e. "Oh My God", "Jesus", "Jesus Christ", "Christ", "God") either spoken or spelled No use of "freaking", "frigging", or "fricking" or variations of such words either spoken or spelled. No smoking anywhere on the premises. Premises includes parking lots, bathrooms, and anywhere within 100 feet of a tennis court. Anyone found in violation of these rules may be subject to a Code Violation and receive suspension points

Boys: Any T-shirt worn must be plain or tennis related. No underwear should be visible about the waist band or below hemline. Shirts must be worn at all times. Shorts must be worn appropriately above pelvic bones. Sleeveless shirts are acceptable if made that way - no cutoffs. Girls: Any T-shirt worn must be plain or tennis related. Skirts and shorts must be worn appropriately above the pelvic bones. The bottom of your shirt must touch the top of your skirt or shorts while standing upright - shoulders back. This means do not roll down your skirt or shorts.

There will be a trainer on site at Leftwich Tennis Center. By law, trainers are not allowed to distribute any medicine. Please bring your own Tylenol, Advil, Aleve, or any other medications you may need. If you have an injury or illness we recommend that you see the trainer. If you need to withdrawal do to an injury or illness, the process will be smoother if we have confirmation from the trainer. Without confirmation or a written doctor’s excuse by 5:00pm cst Monday you may incur suspension points for leaving. Remember if you default from the tournament due to injury you must the Head Referee in person or it will count as a “No Show”.

There will be a stringer at various sites during the tournament. If you prefer a certain string, you are welcome to provide your own.
