Friday, 13Jun08 at the Caughman Road Tennis Center between 2 PM and 4 PM. MANDATORY PLAYERS MEETING at 4 PM. Registration Party- Pizza sponsored by Pizza Hut and coke for all players, parents and coaches follows the meeting. Music will be presented by the Coke Cola Company. MANDATORY PLAYERS MEETING
THERE IS A MANDATORY PLAYERS MEETING FOR ALL PLAYERS on Friday, 13Jun08 at 4 PM at The Caughman Road Tennis Center 2800 Trotter Rd, Hopkins, SC 29061. (803) 776-3250.If due to an emergency you cannot make the Mandatory meeting you are to report at least one (1) hour before your first match time. This will allow for check in and travel time to the alternate site if necessary.
Events during the meeting include presentation of the colors by The Fort Jackson 171st Infantry Brigade, the singing of the national anthem by Harold Utley. Topics on the agenda of the meeting include, presentations by the Nike Tour, Southern Orthopedic and Sports Fitness, and Scott Powers from the Columbia Sports Council. Player and parent code of conduct will also be covered. The southern endorsers wil be introduced.

The Official Draw
The official draw will be posted at 10 AM Friday, 13Jun 08, at the Richland County Tennis Center and USTA.com (look-up #704110508). NO INFORMATION ABOUT THE DRAW WILL BE GIVEN OUT OVER THE PHONE.

Alternates
If you are an alternate, you may check the internet on Wednesday 11Jun08 after 5PM to find out if you have made the draw. All applicants NOT admitted to the main draw will be listed in order, to be moved into the main draw if/when spaces become available. The order will be based on the Southern Standings. To find the order go to Alternates by events list no earlier than 5PM Wednesday 11Jun08 and daily thereafter. If you are an alternate and do NOT get in by Wednesday you can (1) stand by as an on site alternate on Saturday 14Jun08. Alternates on stand by must check in at main site. (2) come and play doubles on given date and time.

Medical Releases
USTA requires a medical release SIGNED BY THE PARENT OR GUARDIAN for every player. This form must be presented at the time of the tournament registration. Please download and bring this completed with you or fax to us at [ (803) 788-0392) ] to speed up the registration process. Players are not allowed on the court without this release.

All players must have a birth certificate or green card on file in the Southern office. Players should go to the link above to see if their name is on file. Compass Draw
At the end of Round 1 the winners go east-the losers go west. At the end of Round 2 the east losers go north-the west losers go south. At the end of round 3 the east losers go northeast, the north losers go northwest, the west losers go southwest, and the south losers go southeast. At the end of round 4 the losers are out of the tournament The remaining players will compete for their flight championship. The losers in round of 16 and quarter-final matches of the east draw will be placed in a feed-in gold draw.The players in the finals of the gold draw will play for 5th or 6th place in the tournament.

Nike Junior Tour
Age eligibility: Only players, who meet the ITF (International Tennis Federation) eligibility cutoff of December 31, will be eligible to qualify for the NJT USA and International Masters events. Example: If you are currently 12 but will turn 13 on or before December 31 you cannot play in the 12's and therefore must enter the 14's. Players who do not meet the ITF eligibility cutoff but are still the approximate age for the NJT sectional events may still participate in these events. Entries and Selection
All players must enter through the tennis link Online Registration. Online registration closes at 11:59 PM Friday 06Jun08. Players may only enter one division even though each age division is at a different site and listed as a separate tournament on the schedule. Players should play in the age division they are seeking Southern endorsement. (No selections based on younger age group). Selections are based on the quotas and endorsements of the states.

Events
Boy's and Girl's Singles (128 compass draw) with playoffs first 1st thru 6th place. Each player is guaranteed multiple matches. The Boys and Girls doubles will be a 64 draw.

Entry: Online Registration Only
Entry to this tournament is open to specified residents only. Entries must be submitted byFriday 06Jun08, 11:59PM Eastern Time. Players must register before entry deadline closes despite the fact that your qualifier may not have completed. Your credit card will not be charged if not selected.

Eligibility
All entrants must not turn 13 before or during the month of the tournament and must be endorsed by their representative state.

Match Play and Scoring
Both the Boys and the Girls will play in a 128 compass draw. Singles play will begin Saturday 14Jun08. Doubles play will begin Sunday 15Jun 08. Warm-up will be limited to 5 minutes including serves. Deuce Add scoring will be used in all matches. In Singles the 7 point tiebreak will be used at 6 all. A 10 point tiebreak will be used in lieu of a 3rd set. Doubles will use the collegiate format (8 game pro set) with a 10 pt tiebreak at 8 all. All finals will be the best of 3 tiebreak sets with a 7 point tiebreak at 6 all. The referee reserves the right to change the daily match format or to use alternate scoring to expedite matches.

Point Penalty System
The USTA point penalty system will be in effect and will be enforced. Proper respect will be shown to all players from opponents as well as spectators.

Balls
The official ball for the Southern 12's will be the Prince Tennis Ball.
|
Coaching
No Coaching is permitted unless during the suspension of play.
|
National Tournament Endorsers/ Endorsements
Endorsers will be present at the Southern 12's. Please direct all questions regarding national tournaments to them. Players should play in the age division they are seeking Southern Endoresement

Awards
Awards will be given to 1st-6th place in singles, 1st-2nd place in doubles and special sportsmanship awards to the deserving boy and girl as voted on by the officials.

Directions to RICH coming in on I-26 Eastbound From Spartanburg
Take Exit 107 (which is I-20 East to Florence) then Exit 73B I-77 North toward Charlotte. The Parklane Road exit is one mile on the right. Take a right onto Parklane Road. The courts are one mile on the left.

Directions to RICH coming in on I-26 Westbound from Charleston
Take Exit 116 (which is I-77 North toward Charlotte). Stay on I-77 and take the Decker Blvd Exit. Go Straight 4 miles. The Courts will be approximately 4 miles on the right. Decker becomes Parklane Rd. (name change)

Directions to RICH coming in on I-20 Eastbound from Atlanta
Take Exit 73B I-77 North toward Charlotte. Take the Parklane Road Exit approximately one mile ahead on the right. Turn right onto Parklane Road. The Richland County Tennis Courts will be 3/4 of a mile down Parklane Road on the left.

Directions to RICH coming in on I-20 Westbound from Florence
Take Exit 74 (which is Highway 1, Two Notch Road). Go right. After about one mile take a right onto Parklane Road. The courts will be one mile on the right.

Directions to RICH coming I-77 Southbound/Charlotte
Take I-20 West toward Augusta. Get into the far right lane and take the Parklane Rd exit. Turn left onto Parklane Rd. The Richland County Tennis Center (RCTC) is approx 1 mile down Parklane Rd on the left.

Richland Northeast High School RNE (Practice Facility)
Richland Northeast High School. 7500 Brookfield Road Columbia SC 29223. The courts will be open for practice from 7AM until 6PM Saturday 14Jun thru Tuesday 17Jun. Turn left out of the RCTC parking lot. Take Parklane Road through Two Notch Road . (Parklane Rd becomes Decker Blvd.). Follow Decker Bvd. l to Brookfield Road. Turn left onto Brookfield Road. The gates to Richland High School are 1000 yards down on the right. The courts will open at 7AM and close at 7PM. PLEASE DO NOT JUMP THE FENCES.
