Tournament Update
According to the USTA Junior National Tournament Committee Manual, in Section 9 for USTA Regional Tournaments. Canceling Matches in the event a tournament must cancel matches, USTA Regulation III. G. 5.a specifies the following order, which is mandatory for USTA Regional Tournaments: 1st Consolation Doubles, 2nd Consolation Singles, 3rd main draw doubles, 4th Main Draw Doubles. All consolation matches that where in progress on Wednesday are scheduled to play at 8 AM on Thursday. We apologize but all other consolation matches are cancelled. Doubles will play tomorrow around the main draw singles play and we are looking to complete doubles tomorrow/Thursday. The schedule is up for Thursday play.

Warm up courts at HRRT
HRRT has practice courts for players from 12 - 8 PM on Tuesday and Wednesday, you MUST call the pro shop there and check for availability, reminder that is a private club, we are lucky to be able to have them help us so please continue to be polite. Their phone number is 919-489-1550.

doubles on-line sign up
sorry you will not be able to sign up on line for doubles on-line, you will only be able to do this at the main begining Friday afternoon during check in, all the way till noon on Sunday the 6th of July. We will begin doubles play on Monday after the singles complete.

Selection of Doubles Teams for Draw
This is the following order that we will accept doubles teams into the event.
1st Teams comprising two players in the singles draw
2nd Teams comprising one singles player in the singles draw and one player not in the singles draw
3rd Teams comprising two singles alternates

Medical Release Forms
Please download the medical release form http://www.nctennis.com/pdffiles/MedicalReleaseForm.pdf and bring it to the tournament when you are checking in. You will not be able to play the tournament without filling one out. We will have them on site however it would be easier for everybody if they where filled out ahead of time. Thank You.

hitting lessons
Please contact Gonzalo Arriagada at garriagada-chtc@nc.rr.com he is in charge of scheduling the hitting sessions. We have college players available for hitting lessons on friday. please e-mail Gonzalo and he will contact them and set it up for you. hitting lessons are $40 an hour or $20 for half an hour.

Alternate and on-site alternates
1st Players with more than 99 points are listed in the order in which they appear on the National Standing List of the age division of the event. 2nd Players with more than 99 points in the next lower age division of the event are listed in the order in which they appear on the National Standing List of the next younger age division. 3rd any remaining alternates are listed in the order in which they appear on the National Standing List of the age division of the event until that list is exhausted. 4th Any remaining alternates shall be ordered using the National Standing List of the next lower age division until that list is exhausted. 5th Any remaining alternates will be done by their Sectional Standing List of the age division of the event. 6th All late entrants are done in the order that I receive their e-mail after the deadline.

last year all 30 girl alternates got into the tournament, 35 boys got into the tournament. i do not have most of yours information to contact alternates. please e-mail me your info, cell phone number and e-mail. you will have 2 hours to get back to me once i leave you a message or send you and e-mail. if i do not hear back we will move to the next alternate and so on.

selection/seeding process
the southern office did the selection of players for the tournament. here is how the players got selected. 32 players will be selected from the top 200 players on the most recent Standing National List of the next younger age division. 123 players will be selected from the most recent Standing National List of the division of the event. 5 players will be selected by a wildcard, which are up to the tournament to decide who gets them.

draw size
singles draw size for both girls and boys divisions will be 160 with a full feed in all the way through the quarter finals. doubles draw size is a single elimination 64.

scoring
the scoring for main draw is best 2 of 3 sets and the scoring for consolation is a tiebreak in lieu of a third set. weather delays: we may use short scoring in the main draw in order to stay on schedule.

main site hospitality
we have a high quality snack bar which will be open for business during the tournament, they make great smoothies as well as some real healthy food, which tastes great and is actually good for you. there will be two ping pong tables for parents and players to play on as well as one air hockey table and a foosball table. we also have two platform paddle courts at the chtc and players, parents are welcome to give them a try. our pool with the nice slide will be open to the players as well as the parents or whoever is traveling with you the tournament. we will have complimentary coffee and some breakfeast stuff for parents for the morning matches all week long. obviously water will be on all courts at all the sites, bathrooms will be available at all sites.

Airports
RDU is the closest international airport to the Chapel Hill Tennis Club, lot's of comercial flights in, we are 30 minutes away from the airport. If you have a private plane you may fly into IGX in Chapel Hill which is 10 minutes away from the club.

singles schedule
1st and 2nd round of main draw will be played on saturday for both boys and girls. Seeded singles players will not start play till Sunday. First round of doubles will be played on Monday afternoon following singles. on Sunday we will do two rounds of consolation and one round of main draw in singles. Monday will be two rounds of consolations, one round of main draw in singles, and we will begin doubles play.

practice courts
clay practice courts will be available to tournament players on thursday july 3rd and friday july 4th. you can't reserve them available on first come first serve basis. you might have to share a court come friday evening. once the tournament starts only hard courts will be available since all other clay will be used for the tournament.

withdrawl/refund
you will not be charged for the tournament if you are not selected for the tournament. you must e-mail me your name and usta number to be withdrawn from the tournament, phone messages are unclear do too mubling messages, poor cell phone receptions, or me not being able to understand the message. if you withdrawl with an ethical reason 6 days before the tournament begins you will receive a refund, after that it is too late.

after deadline applicants
we will not get to you or get back to you till we are done with the selection process, seeding and alternate seedings. only then we will get to you and we can only place you on the very bottom of the alternate list (no matter who you know or who you are)

from the south: take 15/501 north to 15/501 bypass, 54 intersection. take 54 west (bypass) toward carrboro. follow 54 past the exit for greensboro st. westbrook dr. is the second left beyond greensboro st. (carolina apartments will be on the right). club dead ends on westbrook drive. from durham: take 15/501 bypass around chapel hill to its connection with 54 bypass. take 54 bypass west, see above. from raleigh: take i-40 to chapel hill and exit at 273a west onto 54 into chapel hill, then take 54 west bypass at glen lennox shopping center. follow 54 bypass and 15/501 toward carrboro, etc. see above.

for the college coaches
we will have a table for all the college coaches to be able to put their schools information on, and coaches will be able to get telephone numbers and addresses of players in the tournament. the tournament does not have information for any of the kids who is still looking for a schoolarship the college coaches should be able to answer that for you.

check in and player meeting
check in for the tournament players will be on july 4th from 5:00 - 7:00 pm. players meeting will be held on july 4th at 7:00 pm. this is not a mandotory check in or meeting, however valuable tournament information will be given out during that meeting and all players will be resposible for that information, it is up to you. it is also very helpfull to the tournament if players check into the tournament on the 4th during the designated check in time.

Players are selected manually by the tournament director after the close of registration.
Entry to this tournament is open to all USTA members. Entries must be submitted by Thursday, June 19, 2008 12 Noon Eastern Time. Only USTA members can register online if available.
