Qualifying and Selection Process: This tournament is one of a
series of 4 NJT events where participants have a chance to qualify
for the NJT USA Masters to be held at Stanford University September
28-30. FOR 2007, THE SELECTION PROCESS HAS BEEN CHANGED!!!!! ALL
SEMIFINALISTS IN EACH OF THE FOUR NORCAL NJT QUALIFYING EVENTS WILL
BE INVITED TO PARTICIPATE IN A PLAYOFF HELD SEPTEMBER 8-9 WITH THE
SITE TBA. WINNERS AT THE PLAYOFFS WILL BE INVITED TO THE NATIONAL
MASTERS AT STANFORD. AGE ELIGIBILITY: NJT NorCal play eventually
leads to the NJT International Masters where 22 countries
participate. Therefore, to be eligible for the NJT NorCal Sectional
Playoffs and beyond, players must meet the ITF (International
Tennis Federation) age eligibility cutoff date, December 31.
Example: If you are currently 12 but will turn 13 on or before
December 31 you MAY PLAY in a NorCal NJT qualifying event in the
12's but WOULD NOT BE ELIGIBLE to compete in the NorCal NJT
Sectional Playoffs, the NJT National Masters at Stanford or the
International Masters in Italy. Players should consider the ITF
eligibility to determine which age group to enter if they want to
be eligible to go on to the NJT NorCal Playoffs, the National
Masters or International Masters.
This tournament is part of the 2010 Grand Prix Circuit and will count for a Grand Prix Ranking. For more information about the 2010 Grand Prix please visit the Junior Tennis homepage on the USTA NorCal website at www.norcal.usta.com.
