Thanks for Your Interest in a NorCal Junior FLEX Tournament!
NorCal Junior FLEX Tournaments offer level-based competition
using the Ratings Round Robin format in an unconventional way. Rather than spending an entire weekend at a
busy tournament site, players schedule and complete matches on their own time
at a location of their choice over a multi-week period. Multiple FLEX Tournaments are held at the
same time in separate regions. Players
may enter and play in only one of the FLEX tournaments, but players may compete
in any tournament region regardless of where they live. FLEXability when playing a FLEX Tournament is a must! All participants enter a FLEX Tournament with
the understanding that collaboration and communication with fellow competitors,
and outstanding sportsmanship, is key to success of this tournament.

FLEX Tournament Format:
• Events will be age blind and will be designated as Boys’
and Girls’ 18 events. • Players will be grouped into 4-player round robins based
on rating• Provided players do not withdraw, each player will play 3
singles matches. No doubles will be
played. • All matches will be the Best of 3 Tiebreak sets and use regular scoring. • No officials will be present, and matches must be played
according to The Code (downloadable PDF is at the top of the page).
• The Tournament
Director will notify the players in each Round Robin of the contact information
for their competitors.
• Players arrange
the match at an agreed-upon time and at a location within the Region that is convenient
for both parties. Matches may be played
outside of the Region, but only if agreed to by both players. Players split the cost of court fees (if any)
and provide their own cans of balls, marked with their name/initials.
• All matches must be completed by Friday, December 4. Below is suggested schedule: - Round 1: Matches
completed and scores reported by Sunday, November 15 - Round 2: Matches completed
and scores reported by Sunday, November 22 - Round 3: Matches completed,
and scores reported by Friday, December 4
• Scores will be
reported by the winner of each match no later than Friday, December 4 • Winners of each Round Robin will receive a $25 Tennis
Warehouse Gift Card • As a condition of entry, participants and their parent/legal
guardian must sign a NorCal Participation Waiver & FLEX Tournament
Agreement no later than Friday, November 6 at 11:59 pm PST. Click “more info” to complete the form.

Concurrent Entry in One or More FLEX Tournament and Other USTA NorCal Tournaments Permitted:
A
blanket approval for entry into FLEX
Tournament sand overlapping NorCal sanctioned junior tournaments is granted to
all players because matches may be played on non-weekend days; however, if a
player is not able to play a match in a FLEX Tournament due to a concurrent
entry, the player will play in the other tournament and the match in the FLEX
Tournament will be recorded as a default, refusal to play. Players competing in more than one FLEX Tournament will also have their matches recorded as defaults if they are not able to play in all matches because they have entered both tournaments.

Player Selection:
•
Players: Players who have submitted the NorCal Participant Waiver and
Flex Tournament Agreement (see link below) will be selected using the most
recently available weekly average Universal Tennis Ratings (UTR) and in an
order that selects the highest rated players, except that if a player has a
projected UTR, the daily UTR will be used.
The total players selected in each division will be divisible by 4. • Alternates: Players who have submitted the NorCal Participant Waiver
and Flex Tournament Agreement and are not accepted will be placed on an Alternate
List that is ordered using the same method of selecting players. The Alternate List will be used to replace
withdrawing players. • Waiver & Tournament Agreement Deadline: Friday, November 6 at 11:59 pm PST. Players who do not meet this deadline may not
play in the tournament and are not entitled to an entry fee refund. Click on “more info” to compete the Waiver
