Draws posted
Hi all, the draws are posted. Matches will be played at Granada high School and the Lafayette Tennis Club. Make sure to check directly into your site. GHS or LTC will be listed on the draws. Make sure to check the home page for alerts on air quality due to some high winds and dry conditions. Also, the selection process for the Challenger was bottoms up meaning the lowest ranked players were chosen first. The selection process for the open was top down meaning the highest ranked players on the list that the usta gave us were selected. We selected as many players as possible based on the 2 day event and our court constraints. We also considered the maximum matches a player can play. Haver a great tournament!
|
Limted Draws
We will accept as many players as possible to fill our courts following norcalusta scheduling guidelines and the fact that the usta mandated that the changed sanction must be first match loser consolation. Norcal still has not decided about weather doubles will be played. If doubles is not played then there will be consolation for singles In the open division. The challenger division will also have consolation but I recommend signing up for the open as all challenger divisions will be limited to 4 players. Open divisions may be limited to 8 players but we will most likely be able to accept more. The selection process for challenger is bottom up which means low ranked players are accepted first. The open is top down. If you signed up for challenger I strongly suggest that you withdraw using your confirmation number if you are not one of the 4 lowest ranked players. Then, re sign up for the open. You should do this before the deadline or you may find that you will not be accepted into either division.

covid rules at the club
Hi all, Welcome back to our first usta open at the Club since covid! We will be playing singles only in the month of August. During this time we will need to follow some social distancing protocols that will make this tournament fun for everyone!! Only one spectator is allowed to come with a player. This will be strictly enforced. All players will wear a face covering throughout the day unless the player is on court. Players will wear face coverings down to the courts and up from the courts to report their scores. The viewing clubhouse will be closed with chairs outside 6 ft apart where you will line up if you are on deck to play after checking in by the blocked of tournament desk entry. if there are already 4 players in the viewing clubhouse then we will have some chairs 10 feet apart outside the viewing clubhouse. If you have a bit of a wait and you do not want to sit outside then you may go to your car and leave your window down. Luis will call your name when your match is on using a megaphone. no special rules for the balls or changing sides but we ask that you stay at least 6 feet away from your opponent during the changeovers. Please racket tap instead of shaking hands. A touch less hand sanitizer is located by the main entrance to the courts and various hand sanitizers are located on most courts. Good luck and have a great tournament!!!

How to find your start time
The following instructions are to be used after the posting of the draws on Wednesday morning * opens are intermediate tournaments
YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE AN EMAIL WITH YOUR MATCH TIME AND LOCATION SO PLEASE FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW.
On the right of the 'Important Information' button there is a new 'draws' button. Click on it and select the event that a player is registered to. Know that some draws (e.g. "B12s - Challenger", "B14s - Open", ...) are quite large so the system divides them in two, so a symbol (with a picture of a draw on it) allows you to select the top or bottom half of the draw and you could be on the second part of the draw. On the left of each draw, find the player's name and follow the line to the right. That will show you the first match, with a date/time and the abbreviated site name (e.g. LTC, Lafayette Tennis Club The sites (names, abbreviated names, addresses and Google maps), are available on the tournament web site. Come 15 minutes before your scheduled match time. After your match, report your match result (win or lose) and then check the draws online from your phone or look at the hard draws posted at the tournament desk

Concurrent tournament permission granted by Hunter Gallaway
Hi, We will try to finish this tournament in one weekend! I grant concurrent tournament approval to any one playing in the Niru open or any other tournament starting on the 16-17th. The best way to play both tournaments is to just sign up for the Lafayette tournament and then if you lose or are completed by Sunday evening, then you will most likely be able to sign up online on Sunday evening for the next weekends tournament. If you do it this way then you do not need concurrent permission from both directors. We have an alternate site permit on the 9th for 6 extra courts so we will have a total of 15 courts on Saturday the 9th to use. Please remember that there are no guarantees that your draw will be finished on the 10th. Good luck and refuse to lose!

Attention all players and alternates
Thank You for applying for the tournament! This is a limied draw/tournament director selection tournament. The selection process is determined by the usta. If you were not accepted then you were automatically put on an alternate list and we will notify you if a spot opens up. Please email us if you do not want to be put on the alternate list. You also will not be charged for your entry fee. This is a new tournament that was sanctioned this year. The problem with the usta sanctioning a new tournament and not a longstanding one is that we cannot prepare for the amount of players ahead of time. We hate turning any players away and would like to give the most amount of players an opportunity to play. Please check your start time on friday just in case your opponent has withdrawn and your schedule changes!

Selection process, Eligibility, Seeding
This tournament is a Tournament Director selection process. That means that you are not in the tournament until we accept you. Most likely we will accept all players unless we have extreme large draws. We will follow the usta rules on the selection process if we do not accept all players. It is a top down selection process for open players and bottom up for challenger players. Eligibility to this tournament is open to all usta members that fall in the correct age brackets. If your birthday is during the same month of the tournament then you must play in the next higher age group. The seeding method that is used is whatever the current norcalusta list is on the day that we do the draws.
