Rain delay info and hotline!
Please check this section of the notes to stay up to date on a possible delay. We will not cancel a day before noon due to the rules. We have lights at all of the sites, so plan on playing under them if we experience delays due to rain. We may have different delays for different sites. The format may change if we experience a delay. The rain hotline is 925 9372582. Please only call this # in case of an emergency or if you are en route to a site and it begins to rain. If you are driving from more than 2 hrs out then you may call the director directly. Unfortunately, usually we will not be able to start a delay more than 2 hrs before the first match times. If it is raining Friday before the tournament we may start a delay Friday night after 8p. So please check this section before going to bed on Friday night if the weather looks iffy! Also, please check after 6a on Saturday and Sunday for possible delays before you head out. Again we will try to give you a 2 hour window to get to the club after a delay. The forecast for the tournament looks like showers all weekend so please check this section early and often!

TOURNAMENT OVERVIEW: UTR Round Robin tournaments are new to the NorCal Junior Tournament Calendar. These two-day events are open to all players. Draws may be limited based on the court availability for the tournament and the total number of players accepted must be divisible by four. Players that enter will be flighted with other players with similar ability into round robins of four (4) by their Universal Tennis Ratings (UTR), regardless of age. For example, you can be a 13-year-old and be grouped with three other 17-year-olds of similar ratings in the same draw. Each player will play three singles matches using the best of 3 set with a match tie break for the 3rd format. Players in the same round-robin draw will be randomly paired into doubles teams and will play one doubles match using the 8-game Pro-Set format. *ALL PLAYERS WILL PARTICIPATE IN SINGLES AND DOUBLES*
UNIVERSAL TENNIS RATINGS: Every NorCal player that has competed in a USTA National or NorCal tournament that uses a yellow tennis ball in the past 12 months has a Universal Tennis Rating. This is the rating that is used to select players and group them into flights. The rating is based on a player’s most recent 30 singles match results so long as they took place in a 12-month period. Each player is assigned a level (from 1 to 16, with 16 as the highest) based on the level of their opponent and the match score. Levels are without regard to age or gender.
ELIGIBILITY: This tournament is open to both residents and non-residents of USTA NorCal. USTA Membership is required. Players must meet the age eligibility requirements of the division entered. Any player under 19 years old may register for this tournament (except until the month they turn 19).
RANKING POINTS: Each player will receive NorCal ranking points for each match win.
MATCH & SCORING FORMATS: Singles: Best 2 out of 3 sets with a match tie break in lieu of a 3rd set Doubles: 8 game Pro-Set
Scoring: Regular scoring shall be used
DOUBLES REQUIRED: The four players in each round robin draw will be randomly paired into two doubles teams and will play one doubles match. Please DO NOT list a doubles partner when you register. Participation in doubles is required.
Racket Stringing: Stringing may be available during this tournament. Please text 925 368882 for more information.
CHECK-IN PROCEDURE: Please check in at the tournament desk at least 15 minutes before your scheduled match time. Make sure to check in to your assigned site marked on the draws!! We f you check into the wrong site then you most likely will not have enough time to get to the correct site in time to play your match and may be defaulted due to lateness. Please go to the bathroom, fill your water bottle, etc. before you check in. Players are expected to check and comply with all scheduling done by the Tournament Committee.
Weather Delays: Any delays due to weather will be posted on the tournament homepage in a timely manner. If there is nothing posted there is no delay.
