March 12 - Please hang tight for right now
Many concerns have been brought up about COVID - 19 as well as the potential for rain. The virus concern is under discussion right now and a final decision is expected at some time today. We will post a formal note when we get a final answer.

Inclement weather issues -
We have received a number of questions about "what happens if it rains?" If it rains and we cannot play, we will cancel a portion or all of that day depending. Updates will be posted on this webpage as to what we are doing. Sometimes we will simply delay match start times for a while and see if we can get a window to play. So please understand that we will try to complete the tournament if it is possible. Sometimes we will change match formats, etc. So just keep checking this website! NorCal will not allow a tournament to cancel a day's play until noon of that day. So please be aware that we cannot do anything until that day. . . we cannot cancel the tournament until the last day of the tournament at noon. So we have those restrictions that we have to meet. If we have to cancel, then those of you who have paid and have not played a match will get a refund of your tournament entry fee less $2 for administrative costs that have occurred to the tournament.

Draws and Schedules will be posted shortly. Please check your draws and schedules carefully.
We want to remind you that Friday traffic in and around Natomas is always bad. Please allow yourself enough time to arrive safely. This tournament is very busy. Lateness penalties will apply and if you do not allow yourself sufficient time to arrive by your scheduled match time, you may be defaulted for lateness.
Do drive safely. We hope to see all of you this weekend.

This tournament will be held over three days - March 13-15, 2020 (Friday through Sunday) with Open/Age/NTRP components playing.
This tournament has TOY designation for 3.5, 4.0, and 5.0 NTRP divisions. For these divisions only, players will earn 1-1/2 times the standard number of points per round. In addition, in these divisions only, a 3/4 playoff will be held for additional points for those players.
Format and Entry Info:
The Open draws are limited to 32 for singles and to 16 for doubles. Players are limited to a maximum of two events, and must enter all events in the Open division. A player may enter two doubles events (mixed and same gender) or one doubles event and one singles event. All matches will be the best of three tiebreak sets. If this limit is exceeded, the tournament reserves the right to select up to 25% of the entrants, and NorCal will then do the remaining selections based on UTRs.
The NTRP draws are limited to 32 for singles and to 16 for doubles. All matches will be the best of three tiebreak sets with a 10-point match tiebreak played in lieu of the third set. Players must play all matches in the NTRP division and are limited to any two events at the SAME NTRP level (unless one event does not have a draw). Players may play two doubles events (mixed and same gender), or a singles event and a doubles event. If the draw size exceeds the limit, in non-TOY divisions, the tournament reserves the right to select 25% of the draw, and the remaining 75% will be randomly drawn into the event. In TOY events (3.5, 4.0, 5.0), the first 25% of the draw shall be selected using the most recently published Grand Prix Points Race List of the division in the order the players are listed; 25% of the draw may be selected at the discretion of the Tournament Committee; and the remaining 50%, and if there are any remaining spots not selected by rank or at the discretion of the Tournament Committee, shall be selected by lot. Doubles and Mixed Doubles teams will be selected based their combined ranking using the most recently published Individual Doubles Grand Prix Points Race List for the division of the event.
The Age Division draws are limited to 16 players/teams. All matches will be three tiebreak sets with a 10-point match tiebreak played in lieu of the third set. Players must play all matches in the same age division and are limited to one singles and one doubles event.
PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL EVENTS which exceed a draw of 16 will definitely start on Friday and all players in these events will be expected to be available on Friday for play. Friday play could also occur for all other draws regardless of size. Friday play will not start before 4 PM. Please note that avoidances may not be granted if they affect the fairness of play or the scheduling.
Rules of Play: We applaud and expect good sportsmanship from all participants, including coaches and spectators. We are governed by the Code which dictates that benefit of line calls should always be in favor of the opponent when there is doubt.
Lateness penalties will be enforced. Players are expected to check and comply with all scheduling done by the Tournament Committee. A player is deemed to have arrived when the player checks in at the place designated for checking in and is properly clothed, equipped, and ready to play. The lateness penalty clock starts at the scheduled match time regardless of court availability.
Appropriate tennis attire, including non-marking shoes, is required for all matches. Clothing not considered proper tennis attire can include, but not be limited to: • Sports bras worn alone (without a shirt). • Shirts with references to sex, drugs, alcohol or tobacco. • Compression shorts worn alone (not covered by shorts or a skirt).
Please also note that ANY withdrawal in an adult tournament is subject to two suspension points issued by NorCal, even if for an excused reason.
Hotel information is pending.

Concurrent Tournament Rule
A player shall not be entered at the time entries close in two or more USTA sanctioned tournaments scheduled to take place at the same time, in whole or in part, unless each Tournament Committee involved understands the situation, concurs in writing, and each agrees to accommodate the player’s schedule. The final decision rests with each tournament committee. If one tournament agrees to accept concurrent entries and accommodate the player's schedule but the concurrent tournament does not, the player may not enter both. If entries for the overlapping tournaments close on different dates, approval must be received from all Tournament Committees no later than the entry closing date that occurs last. Players who enter a tournament and play it to completion, may then enter another tournament with overlapping dates without permission. If a player violates this concurrent tournament rule ranking points earned in any concurrent tournament played will not count toward ranking or the Grand Prix Points Race and the concurrent tournaments will not count toward the minimum tournament requirement to qualify for Grand Prix.
