2020 Tournament Update 10-27-2020
Hello all!
Draws are complete. The only way we can add anyone at this point is if folks drop out. Matches are planned based on keeping the tournament flowing and also in deference to the amount of court space we have at Darling Tennis Center. If you are not in the draw and would like to be considered for an Alternate spot, please EMAIL me at Keith@darlingtennis.com, and we can track things that way.
One note - I am aware that there are no times listed for Men's 70's Consolation matches. With a small draw and many options to occur, the system will not let me schedule either the Conso Semis or Conso Finals, since prior results are needed to make that happen. Those match times are TBD, and will be made in conjunction with the players involved.
Finally, I encourage everyone to review the draw, and if you have concerns, please reach out to me via email, and I will address them as best as I can, and make changes IF AT ALL POSSIBLE. This is my first time directing this type of event, so there will be a learning curve. I thank you in advance for your patience and understanding. Working together I am confident we can make this a great event for all involved, and hopefully live up to the amazing work that Bob Randolph has done over the years.
Thank you,
Keith

We have tried to manage travel and rest situations as best we could, taking into account some requests for a short stay while others preferred to be in Las Vegas as long as possible! In the end, we had to make draw decisions in the best interest of the tournament and time/court constraints. Keep in mind that all third sets will be super tiebreakers, so first one to ten points, must win by two.
For the larger divisions, specifically the Consolation brackets of the Men's 60s and Mens 65's divisions, and the nature of those draws, we had no choice but to schedule two backdraw matches on the same day. In those cases backdraw matches will be Eight Game Pro Sets, tiebreaker at 8-all. We will go back to full matches when competitors are only going to be playing once a day.
Seeding is based on UTR and the input of the USTA Seeding Committee.
Thank you, and we are looking forward to the event.

Designated OpenSectional Championship
In light of the global
COVID-19 pandemic, the USTA family would like to encourage local play as
opposed to traveling to play national tournaments. With this in mind,
we’ve reclassified the remaining Super Category 2, Category 2, and Category 3
National Tournaments as Designated Open Sectional Championships.
These Designated Open
Sectional Championships will have National Category 2 point allocation for the
players. The participants will have the opportunity to earn national
points while playing at the sectional level.
At this time, the
remaining Category 1 Tournaments will continue to be rescheduled for later in
the year.
If you have any questions or for more information, please contact adulttournaments@usta.com

classification.
