Notes
Thank you for participating in the 2020 Harold Smith Tournament.
Things are different this year due to COVID-19 precautions and
current USTA rules and guidelines.
Remember to wear "all white" for the dress code. Harold Smith's
rule. This is one thing that has not changed. Guys bring additional
white t-shirts. We will try to take your photo with a nice
camera.
The draws are up and the tournament Id number is 700043420. Look
under the "Draws" tab near the bottom of the page if you are new to
tournaments.
Here is the Tournament link:
https://tennislink.usta.com/Tournaments/TournamentHome/Tournament.aspx?T=245473
Bring your own water and ice and refreshments. our water fountains
are turned off. Bring enough for all your matches. We will not be
distributing drinks, ice, and food.
There are no T-shirts this year and trophies are only for the main
draw champion and finalist.
COVID, COVID, COVID! Please follow all the rules and precautions to
keep everyone as safe as possible this weekend.
Wear your mask unless you are on the court. That includes the
parking lot. City of Charleston ordinance and current USTA
Tournament Sanction rules:
Stay 6 feet apart.
No social gathering. Leave the premises when your match is done.
Don't stay and support your friends.
Restrooms. Don't come inside the building unless you are using the
restroom.
Your match time will be on the draw. When you arrive check-in
through the Match app when you are ready to play.
Use your Match app to find the court you need to report to. The
balls will be on your court.
5-min. warmup. This is not league tennis. We are on a tight
schedule with limited courts so start your match as soon as your 5
min warmup is done. Use the restroom before you are called to the
court.
Use your Match app to report the scores and leave the ball on the
court for pickup.
If you are in a round-robin draw, and there are only 4 players in
your division, make sure you play all your matches.
If you are in a first match consolation draw (more than four
players or doubles teams) you will have a consolation draw to play
in if you lose your first match. Once you play your second match of
the tournament, if you lose, you have finished playing the
tournament. The consolation match draws will be posted on
Tennislink.
There are "ghost" times (times based on the outcome of other
matches) for your first match in the consolation draw. If the
person or team that defeated you in the first round loses their
next match, they are out of the tournament and you will move up to
your next scheduled match on the draw. If they win their next
match, you will play the match that is scheduled. Or just ask when
your next match is.
Everyone is coming to have fun this weekend so remember to use
kindness even in problem-solving this weekend!
Join us for our super fun "Harold Smith Classic" Adult Tennis
Tournament.
The theme of this "old school" tournament is to wear all white
tennis clothes and take some fun, classic tennis photos.
Harold Smith passed last year and this will be our first tournament
without him. His on court legacy is kindness to everyone, giving
back to the tennis community, and personal sacrifice to help
integrate the tennis courts of Charleston so everyone can
play.
Covid 19 precautions to help keep participants safe are:
Draws will have limited space so register now.
Sanction rules require wearing your mask except when on court for a
match and to stay six feet apart.
No food or t-shirts will be distributed.
Restrooms will be available but no hanging out in the
building.
Players will likely be called to the court for their match with a
text and remain outside of the building and court area until match
time.
We will not have spectators gathering to watch matches.
Once your match is done you will leave the balls on the court and
report your scores with text or a phone app.
Let's have fun and stay safe!

breaker for the third set.
Senior 50 and over doubles will be one 8 game pro set with a 10
