Notes
This is a 10U and L6 tournament held at the NMSU tennis center,
1800 Wells St., Las Cruces. The format is round robin or compass
draw depending on the number of entries. Warm-up activities begin
at 8 AM, match play starts at 9 AM. The format is ad scoring, best
of three short sets: first to 4, with a 3rd set tiebreak in lieu of
a third set. 10U play a 7 point tiebreak, 12U+ play a 10 point
tiebreak. There will be court monitors on the 10U courts. There
will be an end-of-year recognition ceremony prior to the start of
play. The purpose of the tournament is to provide beginning and
intermediate players an opportunity to play competitive tennis in a
supportive environment. Note: 10U green ball may be moved into the
12U green ball events. 10U orange ball girls and boys may also be
combined.
All 10U Progression events will be run on Saturday with only 1
event allowed per player.
18U events will be run over the 2 days with a singles and doubles
event allowed per player. 18U players will be assigned a doubles
partner if one is not pre-chosen.
Refunds will be made until the entry deadline. There will be no
refunds after that time. T-shirts will only be provided to players
who register by the deadline.
Southwest Section Dress Code:
All players are required to wear appropriate tennis attire. Cut off
shorts, bare midriffs, and compression shorts alone are not
allowed. Shirts should not reference sex, drugs, alcohol, or
tobacco.
Parent/Player Contact info:
Tournament directors do not have access to phone numbers and email
addresses of the tournament participants UNLESS the player
re-enters their contact information at time of event registration.
This means that if a player does not enter their phone and email
information each time they register for a tournament, the
tournament director will not be able contact them for any reason,
including withdrawals, defaults, byes, rain delays, etc. Your
cooperation will ensure that tournaments can continue to
communicate necessary information to you. Thank you.
Overrule policy:
ONCE A PLAYER HAS BEEN OVERRULED A SECOND TIME, THEY WILL BE
CAUTIONED THAT AFTER ANOTHER OVERRULE THEY WILL BE PENALIZED FOR
UNSPORTSMANLIKE CONDUCT UNDER THE POINT PENALTY SYSTEM
Withdrawal Policy:
If a player withdraws or defaults (for reason other than illness or
injury) from any sanctioned tournament in the Southwest Section
(L3-L6), after entries close, that player will be assessed 4
suspension points unless medical documentation of the injury or
illness is provided to the Tournament Director AND Southwest
Section Junior Player Development Manager within 48 hours after
the completion of the tournament. "Player shall not enter
tournament player cannot finish. Player shall not enter a
tournament (including mandatory consolation) knowing the player
will be unable to finish." p119 Friend at Court.
Electronic Wearables:
The use of smart watches or any electronic device that can receive
electronic communication, must be in off mode and in bag unless on
break between 2nd and 3rd set.
Player Selection TypeNo Selection Process. All registered players will be selected.
Entry TypeEntry to this tournament is open to all USTA members. Entries must be submitted by Sunday, November 15, 2020 11:59:00 PM Mountain Time. Only USTA members can register online if available.
