IMPORTANT TOURNAMENT INFORMATION - PLEASE READ BEFORE ENTERING
Thank you for your interest in playing the inaugural USTA NorCal BG16 Dominate Duo Team Championships! The Dominant Duo is a Team Tournament comprised of 16 2-player teams (32 players) in each division. It is classified as a Championship Tournament intended for advanced intermediate to advanced level players. Players must enter this tournament with a partner (see more information below). Each Team Match will consist of 3 matches (1 doubles match followed by 2 singles matches). The Team that wins the best of 3 of these matches is the winner of a Team Match. Teams will be competing in a Compass Draw Format, guaranteeing each player 4 singles and 4 doubles matches over two days (provided draws are full and there are no withdrawals). Please read the important information below before entering so you fully understand how this unique and exciting new event format works.
During the registration process, please provide your telephone number (cell phone preferred) and email address. Failure to provide your contact information will limit the tournament’s ability to contact you.

PLAYERS MUST ENTER WITH A PARTNER
Both players comprising a doubles team must enter as a team. This may be done in one of two ways: • TennisLink Entry as a Team: Both players enter and select their partner during the registration process by entering the partner’s USTA number, and pay their respective entry fees prior to the entry deadline. You will know this has been done properly when both players appear on the Applicant List with their partner showing in parentheses after the division entered in the Events column. • TennisLink Entry by Deadline + Follow Up Email to Tournament Director No Later than Thursday, April 18th: Players may enter prior to the deadline without a partner, but notice to the Tournament Committee by email from both players by Thursday, April 18th is required to be considered entered as a team. The Tournament Committee will use its best efforts to assist players in finding partners; however forming a team is the responsibility of the players. Failure to follow these instructions will result in an incomplete entry and may prevent the team from being selected.
Please also note our Withdrawal Policy: The withdrawal of one player after entries close results in the withdrawal of the team. See more under Withdrawals below.

PLAYERS LOOKING FOR PARTNERS
Players may not enter the tournament without a partner; however, the Tournament Committee will use its best efforts to facilitate players finding partners. If you’re interested in entering, but do not have a partner, please send Tournament Director Andrea Norman by email (see above for email address) with the following information: name, age, telephone number, USTA Membership Number, and a statement giving the Tournament Committee the authority to share your contact information with a prospective partner. We will share this information with others looking for a partner, but it will be the players' responsibility to form the partnership - the tournament will not randomly pair players with partners.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
This tournament is Open - both residents and non-residents of NorCal may enter. Players must meet the age eligibility requirements of the division entered.

DOMINANT DUO TOURNAMENT FORMAT
Draw Format: The draw size is limited to 16 teams per division (32 total players per division). Teams will progress using a Compass Draw format- this is a NON-ELIMINATION format meaning that teams will continue to play regardless of their Win/Loss records. Each Team Match is comprised of 3 matches: 1 doubles match followed by 2 singles matches. The top-ranked players from each team will play in the #1 position singles; the lower ranked players from each team will play in the #2 position in singles. The team winning the best of 3 of these matches is the winner of the Team Match. If the draws are full, all players will be guaranteed 4 singles matches and 4 doubles matches; draws with less than 16 teams, or that have a team withdraw, may result in some teams having fewer matches.
Selection Process: Teams will be selected in the order of the combined ranking of both team members using the most recently published Combined Sectional Final Ranking List of the division. For example, if team member A holds the #1 singles ranking and team member B holds the #10 singles ranking, Team A&B has the combined ranking of 11. A team with a combined ranking greater than 11 is selected after Team A&B. If there is a tie, the team with the member that has the highest ranking will be selected first. If one team member does not have a ranking in the division, for the purposes of calculating the combined ranking, the unranked team member will be assigned a rank that is equivalent to one lower than the lowest ranked player on the Final Ranking List. For example, if Team Member C holds the #1 ranking, Team Member D does not have a ranking, and the Ranking List for the event has a total of 100 players on the list, Team Member D is assigned a ranking of 101 and Team C&D have a combined ranking of 102.
All teams not selected will be placed on an Alternate List that will ordered using the same method of selecting teams into the tournament described in above. Late Entries will be placed at the bottom of the list in the order received. Late Entries received at the same time will be ordered by lot. A team that only has one player entered properly at the deadline is considered a Late Entry. The Alternate List will be used to replace withdrawing teams, except that a Late Entry may not be accepted into the draw if it invalidates the seeding.
Publication of Selection and Alternate Lists: The list of teams selected for the tournament will be published to the "Players" Tab on this website by the end of the day on Friday, April 19. All teams not selected will be published to the "Alternates" Tab on this website at the same time. As soon as possible thereafter, an ordered list of alternates will be published to the top of this "Important Info" Tab. The ordered Alternate List will be used to replace teams that withdraw from the tournament.
Onsite Alternates are those players/teams on the Alternate Lists who have come to the tournament site to be a last-minute replacement for a withdrawing player or team. On-Site Alternates may be admitted into the singles main draw to replace withdrawing players until the completion of the first round of play.
Any alternate player desiring admittance must check in and be ready for play no later than 15 minutes prior to the first scheduled match time of the event for which they are an alternate. The order of the alternates is based on the original Alternate Lists published by the tournament, not in the order in which the players check in.
Seeding: Provided the draws are full, 4 teams will be seeded by the Tournament Committee using the same method and list used to select teams into the tournament (see above).
Singles Match Format: Best of 3 Tiebreak Sets with a 10-Point Match Tiebreak in lieu of the 3rd set.
Doubles Match Format: One 6-game set.
Tournament Schedule, Draws & Start Times: Draws with start times will be posted no later than 10:00 am on Wednesday, April 24. Each team will play two matches on Saturday and two matches on Sunday.

ENTERING CONCURRENT TOURNAMENTS PROHIBITED WITHOUT PRIOR WRITTEN PERMISSION
When entries close, a player shall not be entered in this tournament and another sanctioned tournament if any parts of the tournaments overlap, unless both Tournament Committees involved understand the situation and give approval in writing. If entries for the overlapping tournaments close on different dates, approval must be received from all Tournament Committees no later than the entry closing date that occurs last. Players who enter a tournament and play it to completion, may then enter another tournament with overlapping dates without permission. A player who is on the alternate list in one tournament is not considered in violation of the Concurrent Tournament Rule if they enter another concurrent tournament. Players desiring to enter overlapping tournaments must email a request to Andrea Norman (email address above); it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that you email the overlapping tournaments by one email with both tournaments designated as the email recipients.

WITHDRAWALS: It is solely a player’s responsibility to communicate to his or her partner the decision to withdraw.
Withdrawal Policy: The withdrawal of one player after entries close results in the withdrawal of the team. • In events where there are no alternates, a player will be permitted to replace their withdrawing partner so long as it does not invalidate the seedings. • In events where there are alternates, the withdrawing team will be replaced with an alternate, so long as the replacement does not invalidate seedings.
Withdrawals Prior to Entry Deadline: Prior to entries closing, a player may withdraw and automatically receive a refund of your entry fee by clicking on the "Withdrawal" link that is in the Edit Registration box at the top right of this page
Withdrawals After Entry Deadline: Immediately contact the tournament in writing at AndreaN64@aol.com if you need to withdraw from the tournament after entries close. • If the withdrawal is due to a injury or illness, the USTA Regulations require the injured or ill player to submit written verification from a medical professional before the end of the day on April 28 (the last day of the tournament). • If the withdrawal is due to a personal circumstance, the player must submit a written description of the situation no later than the end of the day on April 28 (the last day of the tournament) and the Referee shall determine whether the situation is a personal circumstance. Written verification can be emailed or to AndreaN64@aol.com.
Entry Fee Refunds: No refund is required beginning 6 days before the start date of the tournament (Sunday, April 21) or if the withdrawal is the result of a violation of the Concurrent Tournament Rule.
