It's a wrap!
First of all, we want to thank all of the players, parents, coaches, and spectators for doing their best in this quite challenging tournament. With the rain delays, the freezing cold, and the changes to the schedule, everyone seemed to just put their heads down and do their best. A big thank you also to your tournament director, Cris Bacharach, and his staff - you may not realize this but they were out at 7:30 AM squeegeeing courts so that you all had the best opportunity to play. He and his staff were also there until the last match finished every day - so they too had long hours so that this tournament might finish.
The staff and the officials noted that the players in general exhibited great sportsmanship and professionalism in their play. We had three nominations for sportsmanship awards, but that does not mean that someone else did not deserve it also. With the short set format and all of the hubbub, not everyone could be seen or recognized. Again, we want to thank all of the players for doing their best.
Our sportmanship award winners are as follows: B12 - Kaden Sigurdsson G12 - Sabrina Lin G16 - Jessica Alsola
Your bag tags will be sent to you by NorCal.
The tournament did complete, so NorCal is in the process now of awarding the level 4 national points.
Thank you everyone for participating. Everyone is welcome to fill out a tournament evaluation form (which is listed below) in order to help our tournaments in the future. We do appreciate the feedback.

2/17 - 11:30 PM - Update for Monday's play
Thank you for helping us all out today. Tomorrow looks very promising in terms of weather - we might even see some sun. We are planning to start at 9 AM as scheduled. Please check your draws as there have been some withdrawals and time adjustments for the 12-hour rule to the schedule. Tomorrow we are NOT playing short sets. BG14-18 main draw will be playing the best of three tiebreak sets, BG14-18 consolation will be using a 10-point match tiebreak in lieu of the third set. All BG12 matches will be the best of three sets with a 10-point match tiebreak used in lieu of the third set. Drive safely.
|
2/17 - 11:15 AM - New draws posted with correct and current times. PLEASE check your draws. All withdrawals to date have been put in.
All: we are still on for a 2 PM start. Please check your draws carefully. At this time all matches are scheduled for Johnson Ranch. Please be prepared to play, but have some patience. With the new scheduling and the rain, there may be, of course, some delays. We are doing the best that we can to get all matches played today. Drive safely. Please check your draws - all withdrawals to date have been entered.
|
2/17 - 9:30 AM update
We think the courts might be ready if everything stays steady at 2 PM. So first matches on will be at 2 PM. If you had an original 9 AM start time, you will be starting at 2 PM today. I am reworking the draws to put in correct times for today. We will be playing short sets again.
|
2/17 9 AM - update
PLease note that it looks like we will play today if there is no more rain. We will update again around 10 AM. However, the match schedule will need to be redone a bit because we will be switching to short sets again to get play in for today. Please note at this time that if your match is scheduled for 9 AM today, that you will be the first round on at whatever time we can start - it might be 1 PM, it might be a little later. All other matches will be scheduled in to follow in a timely manner. I will be taking the schedule down so that I can work on it in a bit, but again, if you know you have a 9 AM match, you will be first up.
|
2-17 5 AM - it is raining!
Raining here in Roseville. We are pushing out the start time until 1 PM at this time. Update to follow at 10 AM to decide if we can play then or if we may have to push it out later or cancel the day. At this time, first matches are moved out with a 4 hour delay.
|
2/17 - 12:02 AM - weather update
Currently it is not raining in Roseville and the courts are dry. However, there is a big spike in possible rain early in the morning. I will check around 5 AM to see. If it is raining, we will not be able to get the courts dry until at least 1 PM - so we will push match times back.if that should be the case. However, we would not be able to postpone matches if it is not raining. So just a head's up that we will do the best that we can with the weather advisories. Please check this site often. Next update will be around 5 AM this morning.
|
7/16 - 10:00 AM Update
At this time we are going to go with the 1 PM start time. The courts are slowly drying. Please drive safely in. If the weather should throw in a wrench, we will update at that time.
|
7-16, 8:30 AM - interim update
Good morning, All. Here in Roseville it is wet and cloudy (and cold). The weather is predicted to have showers and thunderstorms later today. We are assessing this threat and will make a decision at 10 AM of what to do. If it looks like the threat is minimizing and the courts are drying, we will shoot for the 1 PM start time. If the threat is steady or increasing and the courts are not drying, we will probably call for a start time delay of 2 hours (starting matches at 3 PM) with another update at 12 noon. Talk to you all at 10 AM.
|
2/15 - 7 PM - rescheduled draws are now posted
Please note all matches are short sets. The B18s (all rounds) and the G18 first consolation round will all be at Gold River. Again, we hope to update the site at 10 AM tomorrow. Matches are scheduled to start at 1 PM at this time. Please check your draws.

Feb 15 - 5 PM: Weather update for Saturday play
We will not start match play before 1 PM on Saturday, February 16th. All draws have been taken down and will be re-posted later tonight for tomorrow. We will be using a short set format for all matches tomorrow - the first player to four games by two wins the set. A 7-point set tiebreak is played at 4-games all. If players split sets, a 10-point match tiebreak is played to decide the match. Please report scores as played, e.g., 4-2, 5-4(6). If players split sets, they are entitled to a 3-minute coaching break. ALWAYS check the site that you are playing at - Gold River or Johnson Ranch.
We will update the site tomorrow, hopefully close to 10 AM as to whether we might need to consider cancelling the day or moving the schedule out a little further. Please understand that we are doing the best that we can given the circumstances. We cannot control the weather.

Update for this weekend of play -
Currently, the weather is not looking very promising on Saturday. However, at this time, the weather is looking much better on Sunday afternoon and on Monday. We are working on getting some extra courts for play at Gold River on Sunday and Monday. During the tournament, please check this website often. Weather delays and updates will be posted on this site as conditions allow. Be ready for shortened formats and schedule changes.
We will be sending out a general email to all players later today for further information. Please make sure your address in the tournament site is correct so that you receive this update.
