TUESDAY SCHEDULE PLAN
We have published the start times for Tuesday. These start times assume
either the UOP courts are playable at 8:00 am or the forecast will allow
us to play this schedule, but with a delay to the start of play. This schedule plays the Singles Main Draw and the Singles Quarterfinal Playoff to completion using the Best of 3 Tiebreak Sets with a 10-Point Match Tiebreak in lieu of the 3rd Set format. The schedule also is to play 3 rounds of the FIC using the Short Set format used today (Best of 3 Short Sets with a 10-Point Match Tiebreak in lieu of the 3rd set and No-Ad scoring).
RAIN CONTINGENCY: The current forecast for Tuesday is uncertain. At 5:30 am on Tuesday morning a decision will be made as to whether we will: • Play the schedule on the draw sheets at UOP with the shortened FIC match format described above; • Announce a delay to the start of play at UOP, which may include the announcement of shortened match formats for the Singles Main Draw and/or the Singles Quarterfinal Playoff; OR •
We go with a Rain Contingency Plan on the two indoor courts at In-Shape
West Lane (1074 East Bianchi Road, Stockton, CA 95210). The Rain Contingency Plan is as follows: FIC Matches are Cancelled 8:00 am: Main Draw Singles Semifinals (Best of 3 with a 10-Point Match TB in lieu of the 3rd Set) 9:30 am: Singles Quarterfinal Playoff Semifinals (Best of 3 Short Sets with a 10-Point Match TB in lieu of the 3rd Set and No-Ad scoring) Not before 10:30 am: Main Draw Singles Finals and Playoff for 3rd Place (Best of 3 with a 10-Point Match TB in lieu of the 3rd Set) Not before 11:30 am: Singles Quarterfinal Playoff Finals (Best of 3 Short Sets with a 10-Point Match TB in lieu of the 3rd Set and No-Ad scoring) Please note that this plan will ONLY be used if an announcement is made at 5:30 am Tuesday indicating its use. SELECTION PROCESS Several times each year, the USTA has sanctioned concurrent USTA National Level 2 Tournaments and entry is permitted in more than one tournament. It is important to understand the consequences of this decision. If you want to play in a USTA National Level 2 Tournament, but are unsure if you will get in, you may enter up to two different age divisions of up to four sites of USTA National Level 2 Tournaments. When selection is done, players are selected for the oldest age division first based on the most recently published National Standing List of the division of the tournament. · If you are selected into the older age division entered, you will not be selected into the younger age division. · If you are not selected into the older age division, you will only be considered for selection into the younger division and you will only be eligible to be an alternate in the younger division. Additionally, the computerized selection system attempts to fill the draws based on the 1st choice of sites of all players. If spots are still open, it looks at the 2nd choice of sites for the remaining players, then the 3rd, and finally the 4th. It is VERY IMPORTANT to only prioritize sites you are willing to play.
Those players who have not been selected after all four USTA National Level 2 Tournament draws have been filled shall be placed on the alternate lists at all tournaments for which the players have indicated a preference. The players are ordered on the alternate lists based on the player's standing on the National Selection List used to select players.
DOUBLES SELECTION PROCESS: The Tournament Committee shall accept doubles teams into the doubles event in the following order: 1. All teams comprising two players in the singles draw shall be selected. 2. Teams comprising one player in the singles draw and one player not in the singles draw. If more than the maximum number of entries is received, selection order is based on the most recently published National Individual Doubles Seeding List (see Determining Order Using National Individual Doubles Seeding List below), except that no team comprised of a Late Applicant shall be selected before a team comprised of timely applicants. Tournaments are NOT authorized to expand the draw size in order to accommodate these types of teams. 3. Teams comprising two players not in the singles draw.
