The tournament directors at each site will be selecting one
deserving recipient for the Sportsmanship Award to be presented at
the tournament. Expecting to select from many deserving candidates
once again this year!!!!!

ALL OUTDOOR MATCHES WILL BE PLAYED AT ONE OF TWO SITES:
Friday matches will be played at both Carmel and Libertyville
Tennis and Fitness Club sites. All Saturday and Sunday matches will
be played at Carmel High School. In the event of rain or darkness,
matches will be moved indoors to Libertyville Tennis and Fitness
and/or The Lincolnshire Club.
PLEASE READ ALL OF THE TOURNAMENT INFORMATION BELOW.
PLAYERS PLEASE NOTE
By Midwest Regulations BG12,14,16 & 18 players may apply and
play in ONE QUALIFIER AGE GROUP. The only exception is the BG10
which can play in both the BG10 & BG12 Qualifier.
LATE ENTRIES
Late entries will ONLY be accepted by email to the Tournament
Director of the division.
If an alternate list exists, the late entries will be placed at the
bottom of the alternate list in the order of which their email was
received by the Tournament Director. Otherwise, the late entries
will be placed directly onto the competitor's list in the order
that their email was received by the Tournament Director.
Note: Once the seeds and draws are created, any late entry players
on the alternate list that would be seeded will be removed because
they would invalidate the draw and seeding (USTA Regulation
I.H.3).
GENERAL
This is a Chicago District and Midwest Section Level 3 event with a
limited draw of 32 in each age group. This tournament will be used
to determine which players the CDTA will endorse to the BG10
Midwest Level 1 Closed Outdoor Championships on July 7-9, 2018. DO
NOT enter this event if you cannot, or have no intention to play
the Midwest Closed.
ELIGIBILITY
This tournament is open to Chicago District players who have shown
proof of US Citizenship (US Birth Certificate, US Passport, valid
Alien Registration Card, I-485 Letter). If you are applying to play
this tournament for the first time, you must mail, fax, or e-mail a
copy of your US Birth Certificate, US Passport, valid Alien
Registration Card or I-485 Letter to the CDTA office no later than
Monday, June 4, 2018. Send to CDTA, 2200 E. Devon Ave., Suite 319,
Des Plaines, IL 60018, fax 847-803-2383, e-mail cdta@msn.com. If
you did not submit citizenship documentation in 2003-2017, it must
be received in the CDTA office by June 4, 2018. Receiving the
documentation does not guarantee your acceptance into the event.

documentation before the entry deadline.
ENTRY DEADLINE
Tournament entry is by TennisLink only. The entry deadline is
Monday, June 4, 2018 at 11:59pm. When entering this event on-line,
you must list your current phone numbers and e-mail information in
the space provided. Be sure to print out your confirmation number
after completing the entry. You can check your entry status in the
applicant area of the tournament site.
TOURNAMNENT OFFICIATING
USTA Officials will be monitoring tournament locations.
SCORING FORMAT
All matches main draw and consolation will be 2 tiebreak sets
followed by a 10 point match tie break at 1 set all to determine
the winner of the match. Ad scoring will be used in all
matches.
SCHEDULE OF PLAY
The tournament is a full feed-in consolation played to completion,
with a 3/4 playoff in the main draw. Play is scheduled to start on
Friday morning 8am, Saturday and Sunday matches will be scheduled
between 8am and Dusk.
DRAW SIZE
This is a Chicago District and Midwest Section Level 3 event with a
limited draw of 32 in each age group.
SELECTION PROCESS
Top 32 BG10 players from the most current BG10s age divisions will
be selected. Players are selected using the most current Midwest
Points Lists. Seeding will be based on the Midwest Standing
List.
ALTERNATES
Alternates will be posted in order and will be notified if a space
becomes available.
WITHDRAWAL
If you need to withdraw while registration is still open, please go
to our homepage and in the left margin click on "Edit Registration"
and proceed to withdraw. No reason is necessary while the
registration is still open. If registration has closed and
tournament has not begun yet, please email the tournament director
and list the reason for withdraw. If tournament has begun, please
call the tournament director. REMEMBER when withdrawing from a USTA
event once the selections have been made, the only reasons that are
accepted by the USTA Referee without incurring FIVE (5) suspension
points are injury, illness or personal circumstance. Having a
soccer game, a family dinner, or not feeling like playing the
consolation are not accepted reasons.
SIGNING UP FOR TWO EVENTS The USTA Code of Conduct and Suspension
Point System is in effect. You are expected to play the entire
event as scheduled. The USTA/Midwest Section Junior Competition
Committee has adopted a Suspension Point System. All players will
be given FIVE (5) suspension points for entering two or more
tournaments that take place at the same time, in whole or in part,
unless each Tournament Committee involved agrees with the multiple
entries in writing. This applies to all players who signed up for
the tournament including alternates.
USTA CONTACT INFORMATION
Procedure for tournament registration: because of Privacy Laws,
your contact information from USTA membership doesn't show up in
the Tournament Directors' software. Only what you indicate during
the registration process shows up. We have no way of contacting you
if you leave these areas blank. You must indicate all phone
numbers, home, cell (a must!), work and your email address on each
registration, EACH and EVERY time, for each and every tournament
you register for.
SEEDING REGULATIONS
The number of players seeded shall equal a power of two (for
example 2,4,8,16,32). The maximum ratio of players seeded shall be
one in three, except that any draw may have two seeds. No more
seeded players at #'s 5,6,7,9,10,11,12,13,14,15, etc. For reference

REFUNDS
REFUNDS: No refunds will be given once competitors' list is
posted.
AWARDS
Awards will be given to the Champion, Finalist, 3rd, and 4th place
finishers in the Main Draw and to the Feed-In Champion and
Finalist.
BG10 ENDORSEMENT PROCEDURES FOR 2018
The Chicago District has been allocated 9 "Quota" spots for
automatic selection to the BG10 2018 Midwest Outdoor Closed
tournament this year. The Endorsement process has been updated to
select players from the Chicago District Championships - District
Qualifier in the BG10 Age division.
9 Quota Spots
Qualifier Winner, Finalist, 3rd Place, 4th Place,
4 FIC Semifinalists and the Quarterfinal FIC loser who is highest
on the USTA Midwest Standings list published the week prior to the
tournament.
8 Alternates will be selected from the tournament Competitors in
the ranking order from the Midwest Ranking list published the week
prior to the tournament.
If a player does not reach an automatic qualifying position in the
draw and wants to be considered for an alternate status for the
Midwest Closed, a player must play and complete their 1st round
maid draw or 1st round consolation match.
ENDORSEMENT TO THE MIDWEST CLOSED
There is no paperwork to fill out. To be accepted into the Midwest
Closed draw players must (1) ENTER THE CLOSED ON-LINE, (2) APPEAR
ON THE DISTRICT LIST AS ONE OF THE 8 ENDORSED PLAYERS. Alternates
must also ENTER THE MIDWEST CLOSED ON-LINE and appear on the
District alternate list. Midwest will then determine which
alternates will get in based on records of all players in the
alternate pool.
