Just a reminder for the second week of matches at the Laguna Creek Excellence -
Always check your draw and schedule often. Players may withdraw and we can sometimes post it much quicker than we can reach you for the change.
If you have to withdraw, please be courteous to your opponent and try to give enough notice so that they do not drive in for a match that will not take place.
During the days of tournament play, please email in to the following for withdrawals or other issues: Jesse - jesse@urtenniscoach.com - tournament director (on site and at the desk) Russ - russellgroh@gmail.com - deputy referee (on site and out in the field) Copy Carol Kim - ckim410s@gmail.com - referee (not on site)
All matches will be held at Laguna Creek Racquet Club. Again, match formats may be abbreviated for the safety and welfare of the players.
Players please remember that the NorCal overrule penalty is in place (third and all subsequent overrules of the tournament are coded via the PPS). Please do not be late - lateness penalties are in force. Players may come off of court to get an official if needed. Parents, spectators, and coaches, please let the players play their own matches.
Drive safely on this Labor Day Weekend. Traffic may be quite bad.

Schedules are posted for the final weekend of the Excellence. Please check your draw carefully.
Please note that all matches will be played at Laguna Creek Racquet Club on this second weekend. Please drive safely.
|
Matches without dates and times will be scheduled for next weekend!
Next weekend's matches will be posted no later than Tuesday evening (August 28th).
|
Please check your draw and schedules. Drive safely.
I would advise everyone to check their draws and schedules. There were a fair number of withdrawals today - your seeding number, your opponents, your schedule may have changed. PLEASE CHECK your draws and schedules.
Drive safely tomorrow. Traffic is usually bad on I-80. Give yourself plenty of time to arrive safely. Please make sure you check in at your designated site of play! BG12-14 - Natomas; BG16-18 - Laguna Creek.
If you have to withdraw or you need to reach the tournament DURING THE DAYS OF PLAY (OVER THE WEEKEND), please contact Jesse first since he will be on site, and then make sure you copy the referee, Carol Kim, so that it can be correctly entered. The site referee at Natomas is Chris Moore; the site referee at Laguna Creek is Russell Groh. I have included their emails for you too. Draws and Schedules are posted!
Please check your draw and schedule often. Things may change due to withdrawals and alternates being added. We will try to notify you for changes, but sometimes they come in late and we cannot notify you timely. We are able to post changes up more quickly sometimes.
Please check your draw carefully. For the first weekend, the BG12-14 are playing at Natomas Racquet Club(NRC), and the BG16-18 are playing at Laguna Creek Racquet Club (LCRC). Please check in at your designated venue.
We have SAT avoidances this Saturday which will affect some start times; so please check your times of play carefully. Formats for the BG14-18 singles is the best of three tiebreak sets for the main draw, and in the consolations it will change to a Match Tiebreak in lieu of the third set. BG12s will play all matches using the Match Tiebreak in lieu of the third set. Doubles for all divisions is an 8-game proset with a 7-point tiebreak at 8-games all. Regular scoring for will be used. We will try to finish doubles in the first weekend for the majority of the divisions. Please make sure you report your scores to the desk and verify the results with your opponent.
Please remember that the formats may change for inclement weather, and this would include high heat or severe air quality issues due to fires.
Drive safely. Traffic can be really troublesome on the weekend when you head into Sacramento. Allow yourself plenty of time to arrive safely.

Selections are completed by NorCal - Please check the competitors list to make sure you are entered into the correct events!
Ordered Alternate Lists are also posted.
|
NorCal is still working on the selections. It is now after 9 PM on Friday.
Just a head's up that I will not be able to work on the tournament until tomorrow afternoon. NorCal told me that the selections will be done late tonight, and I think they will be done past the time I go to bed. I will get what needs to be done completed after I get home tomorrow (Saturday, August 18th). Players who are alternates and wish to enter another tournament should have plenty of time since most tournaments for the same weekend will close on Sunday. Thank you for your patience.

Selections will be completed by NorCal late tonight (August 17th).
I just finished talking to NorCal, and they are still working on the selections and seeding for the LCRC Excellence. NorCal anticipates that singles selections will be completed late tonight. Please remember that NorCal does not do the doubles selections. If NorCal processes the singles selections, the doubles will not necessarily be processed and will need to be set up manually by the tournament committee. Remember that all players who are selected for main draw singles will have preference to play in the doubles if they so choose. Players who are not in the main draw singles may play doubles if there is an opening but need to let the tournament committee know so that they are entered. It is assumed that if you are not selected into main draw singles that you will not play doubles unless you inform us otherwise.
Doubles partners must be designated by this Sunday, August 19th. The tournament will not be randomly pairing players for this tournament. If you do not have a partner designated by the deadline, you will be removed from the doubles.
All SAT avoidances should be in by now. Late requests may not be granted.

Selections and Doubles
Please note that entries close tonight. All SAT avoidances need to be requested by tonight, August 13th, if you want them honored for singles. If you are late in your request, we may not be able to honor your avoidance. Please be on time! Just a note that on the first Saturday, it is expected that the first round of singles and doubles will both be played.
This is a great time to recheck your entries. Did you enter both singles and doubles as you had planned? Every time we end up with a player or two who entered one but not the other when they thought they had entered both. If you are planning to only play doubles, please confirm that with us.
NorCal does the selections for this tournament. Selections are based on rankings of the age division and rating. Here is what is posted in the Junior Tournament rules: iv. Singles Selection Process. Excellence Tournaments will select players into the singles draw as follows:
a. Ranking Lists: Up to 20 players will be selected from the most recently published Combined
Sectional Final Ranking Lists of the division, in the order in which their names appear on the list.
b. Ratings: Up to 12 players will be selected based on each player’s most recently available weekly
average Universal Tennis rating as follows: the players with the 12 highest ratings will be selected,
provided a player’s rating is higher than the lowest rated player selected under step #1 above. In the
event two players have the same rating, a tie will be broken based on the players’ rankings on the
Combined Sectional Final Ranking Lists used under step #1. If no weekly average rating is available
for a player, that player’s daily rating shall be used.
NorCal usually will only do the singles selections and then download the tournament. So usually doubles is not selected and everyone will receive a "not selected notice" for doubles. Please do not panic if this happens. The tournament usually will do the doubles selections manually after we receive the tournament from NorCal. Doubles takes some time to set up and is always done after the singles selections are made by NorCal.
|
Please enter singles and doubles in the SAME age division.

SAT testing and Avoidance Requests for August 25th, the first Saturday of the tournament -
Please follow the listed guidelines when requesting an SAT avoidance. The request must be made before entry closure, it must include the name of the player, the testing site, the date, and the time that the player can be at the venue. Please note that 3:30 PM is the latest time that can be guaranteed acceptance. The tournament committee will need also a copy of the proof of registration emailed to both the tournament director and the referee. This avoidance will cover singles, but is not guaranteed to cover doubles.
