SPORTSMANSHIP WINNER: VICTORIA CEJA
Congratulations to VICTORIA CEJA (girls 12 singles Na) from San Antonio who won our sportsmanship award at the first annual Georgetown Champ Major Zone tournament! Due to inclement weather, byes, and withdraws, Victoria's only match of the day was pushed back all the way to 8:45 pm Saturday. Victoria showed outstanding patience and determination competing to her fullest in 3 sets Saturday night after a long wait to do so. She was timely for her matches (checking in, getting match updates) and was very personable to the staff. While other players would have been scared off by some morning rain, Victoria was clearly here to play and waited patiently for her opportunity. For her outstanding sportsmanship, Victoria will receive a week long John Newcombe's Tennis Ranch!
Honorable mentions:
Abhinav Bulusu (B12 Murray)
Mikah Liu (B12 Murray)
Abhra Kundu (B14 Chang)

WITHDRAWAL, WALKOVER AND RETIREMENT PROCEDURE FOR CHAMPIONSHIP MAJOR ZONES
Over the last 12 months there has been a significant increase in withdrawals, walkovers, and retirements. Players registered for an event who withdraw from that event after Wednesday (three days prior to the start of the event) at 12:00 PM (noon), or who provide a walkover to their opponent, or who retire from a match, will be assessed two points in the suspension point system. If a player reaches 10 points within a 12-month period, the player will be eligible for suspension and will have the right to an appeal process. During this appeal process, which only happens if a player reaches 10 points, the player will be given the opportunity to explain and/or provide any additional information/evidence. No information/evidence will be considered or accepted prior to the player reaching 10 points. If what is provided is deemed to have merit and the withdrawal, walkover, or retirement is determined to be justified, the committee will immediately remove the points for that particular incident and the suspension will be nullified. Please know that the objective of this procedure is not to penalize players, but to track withdrawals, walkovers, and retirements. There is a maximum of two points that can be assessed to a player during a particular tournament, even in the case when the player retires from a match in progress, then awards a walkover to an opponent in the next match.

Excessive Overrule Guideline: The USTA Texas Officials Committee along with the Competitive Department has established a guideline in reference to excessive overrules as clarified in the Friend at Court. Inappropriate umpire/spectator communication, whether it be about a ruling or any other facet of a tennis event is prohibited while a match is in progress. Being a parent, coach, etc. does not endow special privileges. With the only exception of the right to remove their own child from competition at any time, a parent or coach is merely a spectator.

USTA Texas "No Late Entries" Policy for Juniors Due to a new USTA Texas internal procedure, junior division players will NOT be able to register for a tournament after the online published deadline. We are aware that currently parents reach out via email or phone to the USTA Texas staff and/or tournament director requesting to be manually added to the tournament after online registration has closed. If a player misses the registration deadline, then he/she will not be permitted to participate in that tournament
|
Registration Confirmation: As a parent or player it is your responsibility to assure registration in the event. Regardless if you register on the website or mobile app after completing the registration you should visit the USTA web driven site and confirm your registration by finding the player in the applicants list. If you select to skip this process please be aware that should any malfunctions of the system occur, players will not be granted late entrance in the event due to a system error.
