Southern Closed BG 14's Championship

We would like to thank everyone for playing the 2018 Southern 14's. We hope you enjoyed your time in Macon, GA and have safe travels back home.

All matches on court and girls doubles (Otis/Thornton vs. Bredemann/Guibal Britt) report at 4:00 pm. All other doubles matches report at 6:00 pm.

The doubles match between Otis/Thornton and Bredemann/Guibal Britt will play when play resumes. All other doubles matches will play after suitable rest.

Doubles Semi Finals will be played Wednesday with the Final and 3/4 playoff scheduled for Thursday.

Tuesday we will have a Watermelon party upstairs at JDS from 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm.

Lunch will be served at JDS from 11-2 for all of the players.

Please make sure that you check your match times and locations. The Friend at Court will be followed and late penalties will apply if you are not on time and checked in for your match.

All Players must have a Birth Certificate on file in the Southern Office for proof of US Citizenship. Green cards will be accepted, but passports will not. This event is restricted to the following Jr. players: U.S. Citizens; Permanent Resident Aliens; Diplomats, Refugees/Asylees; CTA. Refer to USTA Regulation III.A.2a. For questions regarding if your player’s Birth Certificate is on file, or to submit a Birth Certificate, email birthcertificates@sta.usta.com and be sure to include the players’ name, USTA number, and current City/State.

We will use Wilson US Open balls for this tournament.

A Stringer will be at John Drew Smith Tennis Center each day of the tournament.

Withdrawal Prior to Entry Deadline:
Go to the Tournament website and click "EDIT REGISTRATION" on the right side of your screen then "Withdraw". From there you can withdraw. If you do not know your Confirmation #, then click "Locate Confirmation" just below "Withdraw." We cannot withdraw you, you must do this yourself. You will lose the processing fee if you do not withdraw online before registration closes.


Withdrawal After Entry Deadline:
Immediately contact the tournament to withdraw from the tournament. You must email your withdrawal. DO NOT call to withdraw. The email is daltondeuce@aol.com. If the player is not playing because of an injury or illness, the player shall provide written verification of the injury or illness from a medical professional no later than the last scheduled day of the tournament. There are No refunds after selections are made.


Withdrawing during the tournament:
You must see the trainer and get approval from the Head Referee at the John Drew Smith Tennis Center. Do not tell just anyone at the desk and think you have properly defaulted. Unless you speak to the Head Referee in person, it will count as a "No Show." WE WILL NOT ACCEPT ANY WITHDRAWALS OVER THE PHONE! If the player is not playing because of an injury or illness, the player shall provide written verification of the injury or illness from a medical professional no later than the last scheduled day of the tournament OR a visit with the onsite trainer will suffice.


*** No refunds will be given after the entry deadline June 3rd.

Main Draw - best of 3 tiebreak sets
Consolation - best of 2 tiebreak sets with match tiebreak in lieu of the 3rd set
Doubles: 6 game pro set with 7 point tiebreak at 6 all. Format for Finals AND 3/4 PLAYOFF will be best of 2 tiebreak sets with match tiebreak in lieu of the 3rd set.
There will be 3/4 playoff for singles and doubles.

Any players who register late for the Southern Closed event will be charged a late entry fee of $25.

The non-seeded players will start singles Saturday morning, June 9th.
The seeded players will begin play Sunday June 10th.
Doubles play will begin Sunday June 10th.

Tentative Daily Schedule
Saturday :Main draw - 1 round
Sunday: Main draw - 1 round , Doubles 2 rounds (no consolation)
Monday : Main draw - 1 round; FIC 2 rounds; Doubles - 1 round
Tuesday - Saturday: Main draw - 1 round; FIC 2 rounds; Doubles - 1 round
Finals and 3/4 playoff for doubles are scheduled for Friday.
Finals and 3/4 playoff for main draw and consolation final are scheduled for Saturday.

As always, weather issues can necessitate a change in the above tentative schedule.

There will be a player lunch for all players on Sunday June 10th from 11:30 am- 1:30 pm at JDS.
