Rising Star (Level 5) Description
A Rising Star Tournament (Level 5) is by definition and entry to mid level tournament. The higher the number of the level (i.e 5) the lower the skill level of the participants. This is also a good tournament for teenager players who had NEVER participated in a sanctioned event to get the tournament match experience.

10s and under progression system
Starting in 2017, the USTA has created a progression system that will help 10s and under compete in a more even field. For example, this means that a true beginner that is 9 years old should not compete against an 8 year old that has played for years. Players will also compete with modified racket, balls, and court sizes, depending on the tier they are placed.
The profession system is divided in 3 tiers: Orange Level 2 (entry level) Orange Level 1 (mid level) Green Level 1 (experienced) In order to advance to the next level, a player must collect 20 stars.
How the players get Stars?
By participating in a tournament a player get 5 stars. By winning the tournament a player gets another 5 stars. By being a finalist a player gets 4 stars (draw must have at least 4 players)
Any 10s and under who has never participated in a sanctioned event prior to this year, will be automatically placed in the Orange Level 2 division and he/she must earn their stars to move up to the next level.
For more information in the progression system please visit the usta southern section at: www.southern.usta.com

No T-Shirts
The goal for this tournament series is to provide match experience for your children in a competitive environment according to their skill level. For that reason, we are keeping the entry fee low ($13) to promote participation. However, we can't provide t-shirts just yet. Thank you for your understanding.

Orange Level 1 and Green Level 1
At this Tournament we will NOT have those events. As we progress in the Woodside tournament series, we will provide those events.
