Good sportsmanship is a key component of any competitive event. We expect at this level the players and parents are setting the tone for exemplary sportsmanship. In recognition of GOOD sportsmanship we will award USTA NorCal Sportsmanship tags daily throughout the tournament. Nomination forms will be available at the tournament desk and we encourage ALL to participate in nominating good sportsmanship. From the daily winners the Tournament Committee will award one overall sportsmanship award winner to one female and one male at the conclusion of the event. Those overall winners will be given a special tournament sweatshirt in recognition of their exemplary sportsmanship throughout the entire event.
On the flip side, poor sportsmanship from players and fans alike will be under the USTA Zero Tolerance Policy which will be strictly enforced by our officiating crew. We strongly prefer to reward good behavior versus issuing penalties so please be on time and play fair.

WEATHER DELAY COMMUNICATIONS
UPDATE (Saturday @ Noon) - All matches are cancelled for today (with exception of main indoors). Although some weather sites show clearing, others predict showers through the afternoon and I don't want anyone traveling 2+ hours only to get spit on by mother nature. We will take down the draws and re-work the schedule for all to be played tomorrow. Here is the planned match formats: Main draw and 3/4 playoffs - Best of 3 full sets
5th/6th - Match Tiebreak (MTB) in lieu of the third
set
All other consolation matches short
sets with a 7-point MTB at 4 games all and a 7-point MTB for third set (there are 4 rounds to play so this is the only way to complete consolation). NEW DRAW SHOULD BE POSTED WITHIN APPROXIMATELY 1 HOUR
---------------------------
UPDATE (Saturday @ 9:45AM) - ALL Matches are delayed to start no earlier than 3PM today. Main Draw Semis only will be played Indoors. Next update at Noon. -------------------New start times are posted. Matches are now set to begin at 1PM on Saturday and all match times have been shifted. We will provide an update in the morning by no later than 10AM. We will give sufficient time for those traveling from a distance.
We will do what we can to finish
this tournament and players should be ready and expect to play unless there is
a formal cancellation of their particular matches. Players will be responsible
for their match times and need to check the web for changes.

TOURNAMENT COMMUNICATION

Second Weekend – Avoidance Requests for SAT testing
If you are planning to take the SAT on the second weekend of
the tournament, please notify the tournament director, Chrys Atkinson at chrysa@sparetimeinc.com with a copy to the tournament referee, Carol
Kim at ckim410s@gmail.com BEFORE entries close. To receive this accommodation, the player MUST send us
the test date, city, and proof of registration for our records. Please also send us the requested match start
time which shall be 3:30 PM or earlier.
We will do our best to honor all requests. These guidelines may not be honored if inclement weather alters the scheduling. The second
weekend scheduling will take place following the conclusion of the first
weekend of the tournament. If a player realizes that he or she needs to
withdraw to take the test, no suspension points will apply and the withdrawal
will be put in as a withdrawal due to personal circumstance as long as the tournament
director and the referee are notified of this avoidance request prior to the
entry closing date.
