Results of Tournament play on Nov. 4th, 2017
Players from
Greenwood County participated in the The Brian O’Reilly memorial Veterans Day
tennis tournament, with their tournament fees collected to be donated to our local
Veterans Center. The event was named last year by Tournament Director Lori Flick
in memory of her friend Brian O’Reilly who was both a veteran of the Korean War,
and worked at Gatewood racket club before passing in January 2016.
Scott
Kwarsick and Andy Nelson won the 3.5 men’s doubles division. The women’s Doubles team of Cathy Mays and
Jeannie Kwarsick were the Champions of the 4.0 division. Ginny Gast and David Windham were the Mixed
doubles 8.0 Champions, and Samantha and Andy Nelson pulled off the mixed 7.0
champion’s title. Participants received
t-shirts, lunch and trophies during the event.
In consolation events; Joe Carter and Crystal Belcher won the mixed 8.0 consolation.
Jesse Attaway and Den Sigvertsen won the men’s 3.5 consolation, and Al Burns
and Sue Peeler were the consolation winners of the mixed 7.0 event.

Entry to this tournament is open to all USTA members. Entries must be submitted by Sunday, October 29, 2017 11:59:00 PM Eastern Time. Only USTA members can register online if available.
