Information for all players!
The Rio del Oro Championship welcomes all players! We expect to see great competition and fabulous sportsmanship from all. Please parents, coaches, and spectators, allow your players to play and do not intervene in any manner in any of the matches unless it is in a defined coaching break. We expect respect for all - players, coaches, parents, spectators, staff, and officials. Please help us in maintaining a safe and healthy environment for all.
This Championship tournament will be held over two weekends and 4 days. It will consist of singles and doubles for BG14-18. Players must enter singles and doubles in the same age division.
Draw size for singles will be 48 players and for doubles will be 24 teams. The format for singles will be the best of three tiebreak sets for all main draw matches. A playoff for third and fourth place will be held. This Championship tournament is a single elimination format. No consolation rounds will be held. All doubles will use an 8-game proset with a 7-point tiebreak at 8-games all.
Pairings for doubles must be specified by midnight on Monday, April 24th. After that deadline, any unpaired players will be randomly paired by the tournament committee. If you do not wish to play doubles and be randomly paired, you must remove yourself from the doubles list by this deadline. If there is an uneven number of unpaired players, a player randomly chosen by lot will become the first alternate.
Players are selected into the tournament by using the most recent combined sectional final ranking list at the time entries close. Players not selected into the main draw will be placed on an ordered alternate list by using this same ranking list.
Players are seeded by using the most recent sectional Singles Seeding List. Players who present information and have a top 50 national standing in their division at the time entries close will also be considered for seeding. Doubles teams are seeded by their combined ranking using the Doubles Seeding List.
Players are responsible for obtaining their start times for all matches. Always check your draws and schedules that are posted for changes.
Communication to the referee and tournament director should be made by email. Please make sure that the information that you put in for this tournament is correct in case we need to reach you. Players who must withdraw, must give a reason for the withdrawal. Injury, illness, or personal circumstance with some explanation are usually excused reasons. Other reasons, late reasons, or no reason may be coded as a default.
