Good Morning! Saturday, May 20
We had some doubles matches go a little later last night, so I had to adjust a couple of match times for the day. I emailed the players that have a bye, which it directly effects. Just make sure you check the draw for your correct time. Also, please stay up to date with webpage today. If it starts raining, we will make the call to go inside. I have a rain plan set, so hopefully we can make it a smooth transition and get everyone playing promptly. Once again, we appreciate your patience with the weather. If you have any questions please email me and let me know. Thanks!

To All Parents and Players for The May State Open
I know everyone has been watching the weather for this weekend as much as I have. There is a high chance of rain for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I have tried to be proactive with the scheduling and times with every division. In fact, I'm trying to finish certain events Friday night, in order to get them out of the way. Having 10 indoor courts we can play on here at The Racquet Club, is a huge help, but if we have to squeeze the use of 36 courts down to only 10 because of rain, things will get backed up. Such is life with this wonderful sport. So I ask for your patience with the tournament staff, other players, parents, and The Racquet Club staff. We will be doing our best to ensure you and your child have the best experience you can! Here are the steps we'll be taking if we have to move inside due to rain: 1) In the 12s-18s singles divisions - after a round is completed, we will shorten the scoring to 2 out of 3 short sets to 4. Tiebreak at 4-4. 10 pt tiebreak in lieu of a 3rd set. 2) In the 10s Green division - the scoring will remain the same. 3) The tournament desk will be moved to The Galleria (between the first 6 hard courts after walking through the pro shop). We are working on having the draws and match times on a tv away from the tournament desk. Thank you for your patience and your understanding this weekend. I will be updating the tournament webpage often. If you need to get in touch with me, please email me at jhorne@racquetclubofmemphis.com. Thank you!

INDOOR COURT USAGE
Please note that in an effort to complete the tournament as early as possible. The tournament may use additional indoor hard courts at the Racquet Club. (This means that any match from any age group, at any time, in any round of play during the course of the day could be moved inside whether there is rain or not). The indoor courts are also hard courts and have the same exact surface as the outdoor courts (in fact the outdoor hard courts and indoor hard courts at the RC were all resurfaced this year). The tournament's objective is to get as many matches played as possible Saturday and Sunday to avoid matches being played on Monday.
