We wanted to thank all the players, parents, and officials for a great event!!! The consolation doubles and new singles draw formats seemed to be well received. A special congratulations to our 2017 Chitty Sportsmanship Award winners:

The doubles finals for B12, B14, B16, B18, and G16 are scheduled on the draw for 6pm Thursday. Should you make the finals for these doubles divisions, you have the option of playing Wednesday evening. B10, G10, G12, G14, and G18 doubles finals will play as scheduled.


The singles finals and 3/4 playoff matches will be scheduled for Sunday as early as 8:30am.

We will have a pizza party starting at 5:30 at CTP on Thursday.

We are excited to announce that doubles will NOT be single elimination this year. We will be running a Feed-in-Consolation, but will only be playing the consolation out through it's third round of play. We have done this so doubles teams have the possibility of playing more than one single match. Consolation matches will only be played on Wednesday (Thursday for the 10 and Under Division). In the event of weather impacting doubles play, consolation matches will be the first matches canceled. Main draw doubles matches may be scheduled after Wednesday at the discretion of the Tournament Committee. We are also excited to announce the Singles draws will all have a 5th/6th place playoff! Quarter-finalist losers will go into their own consolation draw. Those 4 players will playoff and the 2 winners go to the 5th/6th place playoff. We have done this to remove one round from the consolation draw so we are not forced to play three rounds of consolation singles on either Friday or Saturday. Tuesday, July 24th, 11:59pm - Registration deadline, no late singles entries for any reason
Thursday, July 26th, noon - Doubles registration deadline, if both doubles players on a team are not registered at this point, they will be removed from the draw
Sunday, July 29th - Draws will be posted
Wednesday, August 1st - Doubles play will begin at 9am for 12s-18s, we will play 4 rounds of matches
Thursday, August 2nd - Singles play begins at 8:30am for 12s-18s, R64, R32, 1st Round Consolation matches played, 10s Green Level 1 Doubles willl start around noon and will play 4 rounds of matches, doubles finals will be played in the evening
Friday, August 3rd - 10s Green Level 1 draws begin singles play at 8:30am and will play 2-3 rounds of matches, 12s-18s R16, QF, Consolation 2nd round and Round 3 Qualifier matches played, Orange doubles play can begin as early as noon and will play out 4 rounds of matches
Saturday, August 4th, 10s Orange Level 1 and Orange Level 2 singles play begins as early as 8:30am and will play R16, QF, both rounds of 5th-8th playoff, QF Qual rounds, 10s Green Level 1 plays 2-3 rounds of matches starting at 8:30am, 12s-18s singles play starts at 8:30am, SF, 3rd Round Consolation and Consolation QF played
Sunday, August 5th - 12s-18s Finals, 10s Green Level 1 MD/Conso SF and Finals, 10s Orange SF, Finals, Consolation QF/SF (Consolation finals will NOT be played out in 10s Orange)

All withdrawals and doubles partner changes after the deadline must be submitted in writing via email to the tournament director (bill.reynolds@townofcary.org). There are no refunds after the deadline.

In order to truly enjoy the sport of tennis, it is essential to display good sportsmanship which includes abiding by the rules, playing fair, and showing respect for your opponent. We will have a sportsmanship award that will be given out to one boy and one girl in this tournament who demonstrates these qualities. However, we expect that ALL players who compete this week in the NC State Closed to abide by guidelines set forth by "the code".
