match times online. Matches on 6/2 will begin after regular school
hours. Players are expected to be available all day on all other
dates designated for their division.
-Match Time Changes: Once match times are published on

times to change. If needed, the TD will use the email/phone #
provided during registration to contact you.

FULL sets using Regular Scoring. Playoff for 3rd & 4th place.

finals will not be played)
-Tournament Format (10s): ALL Matches 2 out of 3 sets using
Regular Scoring with a 10-point Super Tiebreaker in lieu of a 3rd
set
-Seeding for the tournament will be done using the most
current USTA/Midwest Section standings list at the time the draw is
made.
-Endorsements for the Midwest Closed will be done according
to USTA/Midwest policies (i.e. Eligibility, Appeals, Midwest
Alternates, Play & Complete requirements) which can be found
here:

QUOTA Spots: Per Midwest policies, the 8 NEO quota spots per
12s-18s age division will be awarded to the semifinalists of the
Main and FIC draws. BUT, those finishers cannot be endorsed unless
they meet the Midwest play and complete requirements. The number of
10s quota spots will be posted as soon as it is available. NEW
FOR 2017: The NEOTA will use 1 wildcard per BG12s-18s division
ONLY IF a player who earns a defined quota spot (as defined
and referenced above) declines (in writing) to participate in the
MW Closed prior to the endorsement list deadline. Only in this
example will the NEOTA wildcard be offered to 1 player (per
division) who made it to the Quarterfinal round of the Consolation
draw. The Wildcard will first be offered to the Consolation
Quarterfinalist that has the highest MW standing as of the
completion of the tournament. If that player declines, the
Consolation Quarterfinalist with the next highest MW standing will
be offered the Wildcard, and so on until all Consolation
Quarterfinalists have been asked. If no Consolation Quarterfinalist
accepts, the spot will be returned to the MW alternate pool. All
deadlines related to endorsements also apply to Wildcards.
-Players Responsibilities related to endorsements: Players
must register for the Midwest Closed within 24 hours of the
completion of the Qualifier in order to be eligible for
endorsement. If an Endorsed Player or Alternate becomes unable to
participate in the Midwest Closed, they must immediately inform the
Tournament Director at sara@neota.midwest.usta.com
-Names of Endorsees (Quota and Alternates) will be posted on
the NEOTA website following the completion of the tournament at:
(Link TBD)
-DRESS CODE: No reference to drugs, violence, alcohol, or
foul language may appear on player attire and non-marking shoes
must be worn. Players who do not comply will be asked to change
clothes. This will be at the discretion of the tournament
staff/officials. If you are wondering if something will be
permitted, please consult with the Tournament Director or Referee
in advance. If the host facility has a specific dress code, players
will have to abide by it as well.
-ADDITIONAL DRESS GUIDELINES: Players are asked to wear
proper, modest tennis attire during their matches. What tennis
professionals wear during tournament play is a good guide to
follow. Please notice that what the pros wear during their
tournament matches is typically nicer and more modest than what
they wear during their practice sessions.
-The Tennis Balls used for this tournament will be Pro Penn
Marathon X-Duty (12-18s). Penn Control Plus mid-compression "GREEN
BALL" will be used for the 10s.
