October 2 The ten and under group will not be held because Omaha
is hosting a 10 & under Smashers tournament.
This event is a competition event open to all residents of Nebraska
and Council Bluffs, IA, ages 8-14. You must be a USTA member to
participate. Players are required to know how to keep score and the
basic rules of the game. Those players age 14 that are currently in
their high school season are not eligible to play. Please enter in
your normal age group. This is an outstanding event designed to
test a players performance in sanctioned competition. No
instruction but LOTS of competition. New participants in this event
will be competing for eight (8) available spots in the Winter
Competition Training Center running November to March of 2017.
There is a separate fee for the Winter sessions. More information
will be provided at the first session on Sept. 10. There is a
required player parent meeting 30 minutes prior to the first day
matches.
IMPORTANT ENTRY INFORMATION - PLEASE READ:
10 & Under players do not require a NTRP (National Tennis
Rating Program) rating. ALL OTHER ENTRANTS REQUIRE A NTRP TO ENTER.
If you have played four (4) sanctioned matches in tournaments you
have a NTRP and you will be allowed to enter. NTRP ratings are
given to every player with at least four matches in a sanctioned
tournament. If a player does not have a NTRP rating, they must
self-rate (give an estimate on what they should be rated) before
they can enter. Just follow the directions on-line with the
following recommendation: players entering for the first time in a
sanctioned event without a rating will designate the following as
their self-rating:
11 & 12 year old boys and girls will self-rate at 2.0.
13 & 14 year old boys and girls will self-rate at 2.2.
Please use the above recommendations if you do not have a verified
NTRP rating. If you need additional help for self-rating, please
e-mail larrynewton@cox.net.
For more on Junior NTRP ratings go to:
https://www.usta.com/junior_ratings/
Matches will be scheduled over four weekends: September 10 &
11, 17 & 18, October 1 & 2, 8 & 9. If you are
participating in another USTA sanctioned event conflicting with one
of the weekends you will receive credit for your play, otherwise
75% attendance is required.
Flights will be grouped using NTRP ratings to match opponents.
Gender and age are not considered as important for grouping as NTRP
ratings for ability, so there will be some co-ed matches and
matches between different age groups. An effort will be made to
group everyone with others of similar ability. 10 and Under
will be played separately from the other age groups on a 60 ft.
court with orange balls or on a regular court with green
balls.
Specific match times will be posted on this website the preceding
Friday. Saturday's play will be determined by the number of
entries, and is tentatively set for morning play, but may run into
the afternoon. Sunday's play is scheduled to begin at Noon.
Participants should plan to play at least two (2) short format
matches per day.
