PLAYERS PROMISE - The USTA is reintroducing the “Junior Player Promise” at this Northern Championship event.
“I recognize that tennis is a sport that places the responsibility for fair play on me. I promise to abide by the rules of the game, which require me to give the benefit of the doubt to my opponent. At all times I shall strive to compete with the true spirit of sportsmanship, recognizing that my behavior on the court is a direct reflection of my character. Whether this match ends with my victory or defeat, I promise to conduct myself in a way that honors my opponents, my team, those who support me, and the game of tennis.”
|
USTA NORTHERN SPECTATOR POLICY - No other sport allows umpire/official/spectator communication, whether it be about a ruling or any other facet of a sports event. TENNIS IS NOT AN EXCEPTION. Being a parent, coach, etc. does not endow special privileges. With the only exception of the right to remove their own child from competition, at any time, a parent, friend or coach is merely a spectator. Coaching, interjection into a match, audible obscenities, physical confrontation or verbal confrontation deemed to be threatening or disruptive by a coach, spectator, friend or parent is unacceptable in USTA Northern and will not be tolerated. Reminder you are a guest of the Rochester Athletic Club and it's owners. The list of process in place will be posted at the tournament desk and draws.
