TOURNAMENT RULES & FORMAT
This tournament will abide by the USTA Rules, as set forth in the official USTA Rule Book, "Friend at Court". Please be familiar with the rules of tennis concerning playing, one need not concern themselves with administrative rules. The tournament will use a FMLC (first match losers consolation) format, so as long as there are 4 players in a division, every player will have at least 2 matches minimum. For this tournament, a THIRD SET MATCH TIE BREAK will be used in place of a full third set, should the players split the first 2 sets. Please familiarize yourself with the third set match tie break procedure as set forth in the rule book.

PLAYER RESPONSIBILITIES
Summer tournaments can be played in very warm temperatures. Fluids are very important. BRING LOTS OF FLUIDS WITH YOU !! Rule of thumb is A MINIMUM OF A GALLON OF FLUIDS PER MATCH !! Best to have 2 one gallon containers, one can be refilled while the player uses the other. BRING ICE !! This should be USTA policy, but the big dogs in New York in charge at USTA HQ don't play any tournaments, and don't know how tough it is playing in hot weather. Players are responsible for their own equipment, clothing, rackets, grips, strings, socks, shoes, wrist bands, extra shirts, etc. We mention this due to some novice tournament parents think some of these items are provided because their child is participating. Tournaments provide the courts for competition, that is it. Be prepared, best o bring extra ice and extra towels.
|
TROPHIES
Trophies will be provided for the Champion, Finalist, Third Place and Consolation Champion players. There will be a third place playoff between the semifinal losers, as long as there are more than six players. If there are less than 6 players, there will only be trophies for the Champion and Finalist.
