Congrats to Eleana Yu for Winning the Girls 12 National Championships and Girls 12 Sportsmanship Award.

The courts are a little damp but should dry by 9 am. All matches on as scheduled.

It's Sunny now but there's a chance of rain between 11 am and 12 pm. If players check in early for 9 am matches, we should be able to get 30 minutes ahead

The courts are mostly dry and we just have to do some rolling in certain spots. All matches are on at Windward as scheduled. I will update you again at 8:00 a.m.

Due to the rain, all Thursday night matches are cancelled. The new schedule for Friday is now posted.

We had a team of parents out rolling the courts and we had them just about ready. Then it rained. However, it did not rain too badly so I am thinking that all matches on the court when it rained, be here by 4 p.m. Additionally, the last three first round matches to go on should be here by 4 p.m. Weather permitting, we will play doubles and 2nd round singles after.

We are playing 2 rounds on consolation today. Make sure you check your second match time.

A lot of the 12 p.m. matches got on earlier than 12 so let's set the rain delay to 3.5 hours. I will have to honor the 4-hour delay but try to be her within 3.5 hours of your posted time.

The courts are practically all dry now. We are still on an official 4-hour delay from your posted time but please get here earlier if you can because more rain is coming. If you were schedule originally for 8 a.m which is now 12 p.m., I would head to Windward now.

We need at least another hour so we are now on a 4-hour rain delay. Next update at 11:00 a.m.

I just took the draws down to tweak the schedule just a wee bit. Since there is a chance of more rain coming, I am going to schedule the 4 Main Draw matches for an original 8:00 a.m. start so they will be the first on when we start play. The courts are wet from overnight rain but the forecast is pretty good until about 5 p.m. today. All Silver Draw and all consolation matches will be played outside at Windward. I will make a decision about indoor courts for the Main (East) Draw by 8:00 a.m. today. I will update you again at 6:30 a.m. to let you know if there is a delay (I think there will be) at Windward.

Since my last post, it has not rained at Windward so we are still on schedule to start at 2 p.m. at Windward. Okay here's the plan. I have updated the times on the draws and we are using two sites: Windward (WIND) AND Hudlow (HUD) at 2051 Old Rockbridge Road, Norcross, GA 30071. One round of the East and West singles draws are scheduled at Windward today and one round of the North and South single draws are scheduled at Hudlow. All doubles will be played at Windward after the singles. If needed, I will update you again

Here's my 10:30 a.m. update. The rain is moving out and we think we can get the courts dry by 2:00 p.m. To get as many matches in as possible, we are going to use Hudlow Tennis Center also again today. Hudlow Tennis Center is at 2051 Old Rockbridge Road, Norcross, GA 30071. I have taken down the draws to put the actual times and site down and will re-post at 11:30 a.m. with exact times.

Still raining so no matches prior to 12 p.m. If we do play today, I will re-post new times and give you 1 to 1.5 hours to report to your site. So please don't try to figure a rain delay time. I will just reschedule the times and post exact times. Let me explain why I do it this way. If I post for example a 4-hour rain delay, the match scheduled for 12:00 p.m. would prepare for a possible 4 p.m. match. Then if we decide to shorten scoring or add an extra site, that 12 p.m match may be able to play at 2 p.m., but you were already planning for 4 p.m.

First match times will be posted at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, 8/4/17. The Singles Draw will be posted at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 5. The Doubles Draw will be posted at 12 noon on Sunday, August 6. The first round of singles will begin at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 6. The first round of doubles will begin on Sunday afternoon.

The official ball for this event is the Wilson US Open Regular Duty Ball.

We have started working on the draw so all withdrawals will be replaced from the ordered alternate list.

Ordered alternates list will be published based on the National Standings List. HOWEVER, before the draw making process has started, the tournament committee will replace a withdrawing player who was accepted as part of a Section's quota with the next player on that Section's endorsement list. For example, if a withdrawing player was selected from the Florida Section Endorsement List, that player will be replaced by the next highest alternate from the Florida Section Endorsement List. Before draws are made, the ordered alternates list will only be used to replace a withdrawing player who was selected from:
National Direct Acceptance List
National Qualifier List
Nation Selection List
Or, there are no more registered alternates on the Section Endorsement List
Or, the wildcard spots were not filled.

Doubles: Typically with national tournaments the doubles selections are usually not complete due to the limitations of the automated selection process in handling multiple age entries, multiple locations, etc. Based on the "Player's List" it looks like the selection of Doubles Players will be complete. If it is not and you are selected for singles but not doubles, do not panic. Simply email me at turhanberne@gmail.com to add you to doubles or notify me of your partner. We have a lot of time to add doubles players and make pairings.

This is a National Level 1 Tournament
Draw Size is 128 for singles and 64 for doubles. Singles will be a Compass Draw. Doubles will be single elimination.

Matches will be played at the Windward Lake Club. Windward Courts will be available at 7 AM for warm-ups. Courts will be cleared at 7:45 for 8 AM matches.
Courts 1-4 at Windward are reserved for Club members. Please do not ask to use these courts.
For East Draw singles and the Doubles draw, there will be a Playoff for 3rd and 4th places. A Gold Draw will determine 5th and 6th place and the Silver Draw will played for losers in the round of 16 in the East Draw. In non-East Draws, awards will be given to the winners.
Match formats: All East draw singles matches will be the best of three tie-break sets All non-East Draw singles will be 2 tiebreak sets with a 10-Point Match tiebreak in lieu of the 3rd set.
Doubles: Semifinals, Final, and playoff will play the Best of 3 TieBreak Sets. All other doubles will play 2 Tiebreak Sets with a 10-Point Match Tiebreak in lieu of the 3rd set.
The official ball of the tournament is Wilson US OPEN.
No housing is provided.

Any T-shirts must be plain or tennis related.
The bottom of your Shirt must touch the top of your Skirt or Shorts while standing upright-shoulders back.
Skirts and shorts must be worn appropriately above the pelvic bones.
Extremely short shorts are not allowed.

The Windward Lake Club uses conduct rules above and beyond those enforced by the USTA.
Players are required to abide by these facility rules of behavior on and off of the court.
The list below indicates the Facility Behavior Rules:
• No use of the word "suck" or any form of the word, spoken or spelled.
• No use of expressions of frustrations with references to deities (i.e. "Oh My God", "Jesus", "Jesus Christ", "Christ", "God") either spoken or spelled.
• No use of "freaking", "frigging", or "fricking" or variations of such words either spoken or spelled.
• No cell phones are allowed on court **and we ask that all spectators please have their phones on vibrate when courtside. Please be considerate of all players and use your phones away from the courts. **EXCEPTION: PLAYERS MAY USE PHONE ON COURT TO CALL COACH DURING THE 3 MINUTE BREAK BETWEEN 2ND SET AND MATCH TIEBREAK FOR 3RD SET.
• No unsportsmanlike conduct by players, parents, coaches, or other spectators will be tolerated.
• No Smoking anywhere on the premises. Premises includes parking lots, bathrooms, and anywhere within 30 feet of a tennis court.

12 walk up practice courts on site at no charge (first come first served).

3 minute rest break before a match tiebreak for the 3rd set. Coaching is permitted during the 3-minute rest period and must take place on court or in an area adjacent to the court designated by an official. Coaching may take place using a cell phone or other communication device. The device must be turned off and stowed at the conclusionof the 3-minute rest period. Penalty for lateness starting play after the 3 minutes is first a time violation, followed by a code violation.
10 minute rest break before a full 3rd set. Players may leave the court area for coaching. Penalty for being late to court 0-5 minutes is loss of 1 game. Any lateness beyond 5 minutes is default.

Seeding Method: The Computerized List Method of seeding will be used for the tournament. Refer to Table 18, page 174 in 2014 Friend at Court for the seeding criteria. The July 23, 2014 National Singles Seeding List and National Individual Doubles Seeding List will be used for the seeding process.

Singles: All East draw singles matches will be the best of three tie-break sets.

All non-East Draw singles, Gold Draw and Silver Draw for the East will be 2 tiebreak sets with a 10-Point Match tiebreak in lieu of the 3rd set

Doubles: Semifinals, Final, and playoff will be the Best of 3 TieBreak Sets. All other rounds of doubles will be 2 Tiebreak Sets with a 10-Point Match Tiebreak in lieu of the 3rd set.

There will be a trainer on site at the Windward Lake Club during matches. By law, trainers are not allowed to distribute any medicine, even to adults. Please bring your own Tylenol, Advil, Sinus Medicine, etc.

Plan on HOT temperatures and start hydrating early in the week before the tournament. Temperatures could be 80-100 degrees, so be prepared for the heat and humidity.
If you have an injury or illness, we strongly suggest that you see the trainer. If you need to withdraw due to injury or illness, the process will be much smoother if we have confirmation from the trainer.

The SINGLES event is a “Compass Draw”, which means ALL PLAYERS will play at least four singles matches, regardless of whether they win or lose.
At the end of round 1:

• The winners go east
• The losers go west.
At the end of round 2:
• The east losers go north
• The west losers go south.
At the end of round 3:
• The east losers go northeast
• The north losers go northwest
• The west losers go southwest
• The south losers go southeast.
At the end of round 4 (round of 16):
• The losers are out of the tournament unless playing in the east
• The losers in the east will enter the Silver Draw Championship.
At the end of round 5 (quarter finals):
• The losers are out of the tournament unless playing in the east
• The losers in the east will enter the Gold Draw Championship.
At the end of round 6 (semi-finals):
• The losers are out of the tournament unless playing in the east
• The losers in the east will play for 3rd and 4th

• The winners play the finals on each draw sheet.

The Silver Draw for the East will be composed of the 8 losers from the round of 16 matches. The Gold Draw for the East will be composed of the 4 losers from the Quarter Final Matches. Finalist and winner of the Gold Draw will be 5th and 6th place finishers for the tournament. FORMAT OF MATCHES: Match tie break in lieu of the third set.

On-Site alternates may check in during Tournament Registration on Saturday from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., OR contact the referee to place your name on the On-Site list.
On Sunday, on-site alternates must check with the Referee 30 minutes before the first match time and should be prepared to play if a spot becomes available.
If there is more than one on-site alternate, available spots will be filled according to the published ordered alternates list.
On Site Alternates MUST be endorsed by their section.

Players are expected to follow The Code. If you've never read it, please do so.

LATE ENTRANTS - USTA Georgia will allow late entrants to be accepted into all USTA GA tournaments, Levels 1-5, in the event that the draw is not full, provided that such late entrants do not affect the seeding and further provided that late entrants do not prevent timely entrants to be accepted into the draw under any circumstances. Accepting late entrants is at the discretion of the Tournament Committee. Seeds must be posted by 12 noon following close of registration. Once draws are posted, the tournament is closed and can no longer accept late entries.
