THIS IS A GEORGIA LEVEL 3 SUPER CHAMPIONSHIPS FOR BG 10-18. THIS IS
ALSO A SOUTHERN LEVEL 3 TOURNAMENT. The tournament is sanctioned
Saturday-Sunday. Since this tournament has a Southern Level 3
designation, the tournament is required to follow Southern
requirements. The draws are limited to 32 using the Waterfall
system to split the entrants into two draws of 16, with a full FIC
and 3/4 playoff in the main draw. Singles Scoring will be the best
of 2 sets with a Match Tie-Break in lieu of the third set.
Boys/Girls 10 & Under divisions must play all matches on a 60'
court with a 25" racket and use low compression balls using short
sets. In the event of inclement weather an alternate scoring system
may be used. To enter you must use the USTA's On-line registration.
SUPER CHAMPIONSHIP - Open to all players regardless of
ranking.
You may enter Two (2) Divisions in this tournament in hopes of
getting into the older division. You will only be selected for one
singles event. 4 applicants will be selected for the older division
based on their younger standing, if it is in the top 40. If you
absolutely do not want to play the younger division, do not
register for it. You should only register for two singles
divisions if you are willing to play either division.
Both Singles and Doubles times will be posted in the Future Match
Info report on Oct. 20.
On Wednesday, Oct. 19 PLEASE CHECK THE DOUBLES COMPETITORS LIST TO
MAKE SURE YOUR PAIRING IS CORRECT.
FORMAT OF PLAY
Beginning January 1, 2012, all USTA Southern Level 3 tournaments
will adhere to a set and consistent format. Taking cost and school
day factors into account, the Junior Competition Committee has
determined that the Level 3 tournaments will be conducted as
follows:
- Singles Matches are only to be scheduled on Saturday and
Sunday
- Each division will consist of two 16 feed in draws.
- The draws will be waterfalled to make two balanced draws
- Selections will remain the same as in the past. The top 32
players will be selected using the same process for bringing in the
lower age division (four from the top 40)
- Until Wednesday prior to the tournament start date, alternates
will fill in for any withdrawn player
- On Wednesday, the tournament director will split the 32 players
into two balanced 16 draws using a format supplied by the Southern
Office
- Seeding must be done using the Southern Seeding Calculator
- After the draws are complete, the next alternate will fill a
"withdrawal" spot no matter in which draw the withdrawal
occurs
- If a seeded player withdraws prior to 9:00 am local time the
Friday before the tournament, the seeds shall be adjusted (only in
that particular draw) according to FAC
- If the withdrawal occurs after 9:00 am local time, the next
alternate would be placed on the same line as the withdrawing
seed
- Out of Section players would be dealt with the same as has been
done, only after all of our Section players have been taken care of
first
- Singles Draw information:
o All singles matches will be best of three with a match tiebreak
to be used for the third set
o If the number of entrants for a division is less than 24, one
draw will be made using a modified back draw
- Doubles:
o One draw of 16
o Pro set to be used
**** Amended criteria for 11 & Under Green Ball play for
Level 3 tournaments
Starting March 1, 2016, the "benchmark" in the 11 & Under
division has been eliminated.
Now, as long as age eligible, a player may play 10 & under
orange ball, 11 & under green ball, or 12 & under yellow
ball.
Beginning in early April, standings for the 11U division were
posted in TennisLink, and minor changes have been made to the 10U
standings as well. The 11U standings include all age-eligible 11U
players, regardless of whether or not they have played in an 11U
tournament, and these standings are being used for selection and
seeding for the STA L3 tournaments. Moving forward, results from
11u STA L3 tournaments are only being counted in the 11U and 10U
standings for Southern, and they have been awarded full credit for
points earned in both of these divisions.
The lower division standing will be considered for
selections.
For 12U events, the lower division is considered to be 11U Green.
1/8 of the draw is taken from the younger age players in the top 40
who are still eligible in the younger age group.
For the 11U division, 1 player is taken from the 10U division in
the top 20 who are still eligible in the younger age group.
