ALPINE HILLS TENNIS AND SWIMMING CLUB 4139 Alpine Road Portola Valley, CA 94028 ogidi@alpinehills.us (650) 851-1591, x 110
It is located approximately 2.5 miles west of I-280 using the Alpine Road exit. WATER & ICE: Water is provided on court but please note that ice is limited ice and will be available primarily for injuries. DISABLED GUESTS: A wheelchair entry ramp is located at the front of the club house and the courts are wheelchair accessible by the front parking lot.
PARENTS: Many of you are new or even first time tennis parents. Parents play an important role in junior tennis and for this I would like to thank you for your efforts and to also offer you this advice. Players will miscount the score, stare aimlessly at random objects, miss a call or two (or even three…), make unforced errors that they routinely make in practice, tear up and possibly cry but in the end they will be fine. There will be great shots, memorable points, smiles, fun and hopefully friendships that last a lifetime. That being said please resist the urge to intervene in the matches. While your child may be used interacting with you it can be upsetting for other children and parents. Finally, remember that we are the primary models for our behavior.
If you have any issues please don’t hesitate to contact the front desk. Without your (extremely sagacious) decision to place them in this great sport of ours and your commitment to your players the experience of junior tennis would be greatly diminished. Please help us to give everyone the best tournament experience this weekend.
THE CLUBHOUSE/RESTAURANT/POOL/LOCAL FOOD AND PARKING: Alpine has a great restaurant on site! It is open from 8AM - 730PM. Credit Cards (not cash) will be accepted. Please note that the Bar area is 18+ and that minors are not permitted to eat or linger in the Bar.
Also it must be stated that the restaurant will do it’s best to get out all meals in a timely fashion. The restaurant is a privilege that the membership is extending to us for this weekend. Please be patient and courteous with all staff as they are doing their best to attend to everyone’s requests.
If you want an alternative to the restaurant there is a shopping center a mile south by the Alpine/ I-280 exit. A Bianchi’s grocery store and other restaurants are there.
Please note that there are bathrooms in the clubhouse by the front desk as well as locker rooms in the pool area. Other than use of the locker rooms players (and guests) are not permitted to use the pool, Fitness Center or Activities Room.
Finally, there will be other activities around the club this weekend so we must insist that participants in the tournament use the parking off of Los Trancos Rd and not use the parking off of Alpine Rd. The directions to the Los Trancos Parking are as follows. After passing the club (approaching from I-280 on Alpine Road) take your first left onto to Los Trancos Road. Within 50 yards you will see tennis courts on your left. Make a left into the driveway and please park in the Lower Lot.
WIRELESS ACCESS @ ALPINE HILLS:
alpine1 To connect simply select alpine1 network, open a browser on your laptop or mobile device and click “Connect.” We are looking forward to a great tournament and we hope to see you guys on the courts!!!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS FOR THE 2016 ...
Hi guys,
It turns out that there have been some frequently asked questions and I would like to address them here.
Question #1: I want my child to play in the Green Division but he is in the Orange Division.
Answer #1: The most likely answer is that your child is not eligible to participate in that division. Now every child has to progress through the appropriate stages of competition before becoming eligible to play in the next level up. The stages are as follows 10U Orange ---> 10U Green ---> 12U Green or 12U Yellow. Tournament Directors are not able to override your placement in the progression. Players are automatically placed in the division that they are eligible for. You can click on the following link for details. http://www.norcal.usta.com/juniors/progression/?
Question #2: I registered for 10U Boys or Girls Singles but my child is in the Co-Ed Division.
Answer #2: Due to the unexpected and large pool of applicants the 10U Divisions were consolidated for logistical and scheduling purposes. Matches will still count towards the player pathway. So if you entered into a gendered 10U Orange division then your child will be found in the Co-Ed division.
Question #3: How do I find my child in the draw?
Answer #3: Look on the home page and press the "Draws" tab. Look through and find the appropriate Division and Flight (i.e. Boys 12U Green - A) for your child and look at the time that is by his/her match. Please arrive no later than 15 minutes prior to your match.
Question #4: Where are the doubles draws?
Answer#4: This answer is a combination of two answers above... Unfortunately, doubles is no longer a requirement for Pathway and due to the unexpected and large pool of applicants doubles was not scheduled. As was explained in the "Letter to the Applicants" we will play doubles if there i is time and the matches are not too far behind. The draws will be limited to those who have signed up to participate.
Ok.. I hope that answers some of the questions.. I look forward to seeing you guys at the courts!
Best,
Ogidi
