Welcome to City of Fremont Fall Sectionals
Welcome to the City of Fremont USTA NorCal Fall Singles Sectionals tournament . We are excited are host this event and look forward to some great tennis. Here’s a few things to know before Saturday. Match times & Format Match times are posted and any changes will be communicated via the tournament homepage or email or phone. Please check the draws! All matches will be played at Fremont Tennis Center, 1110 Stevenson Blvd., Fremont. Main draw singles – best of three sets. Consolation singles - 2 out of three set with 10 point tie-breaker for third set. Check-in We will be strictly enforcing the late check in policy as we have a lot of matches and do not want to get behind. Check-in desk will be held towards the back of the court on the grassy area. Warm up courts Courts are available before the first match time. Once the tournament has started there will no warm up courts onsite. The nearest warm up courts are Mission San Jose Community Park (right behind Mission San Jose High School) and Centerville Community Park. These are City of Fremont facilities and courts are first come first served basis. Players Players are expected to behave within the guidelines of code of conduct and their role will be to compete fairly, be respectful of opponents, officials and themselves. It is the players responsibility to check in, know the match format, both players must report scores and know when they’re next match is. Parents Parents also will be held accountable to the code of conduct of Friend of Court. Their role will be supporters of the event, officials opponents and players. Any conduct that is not consistent with Friend of Court and the tournament may result in the individual being asked to leave the site. Consolation Rounds All players not in the main draw are EXPECTED to play their consolation matches. Penalties and suspension points will be awarded to players who choose to not play the consolations rounds. Injury withdrawals from consolations rounds need to be accompanied with a doctor’s note. Videotaping of matches City of Fremont policy is there will be no videotaping of matches during the tournament. This supersedes the USTA NorCal policy as it's a facility policy.
Food There’s no food for sale onsite at FTC, however the soccer kiosk (approximately 200 yards away) will be open both Saturday and Sunday serving food. Alternative food options are Mission Valley Shopping center (approximately 1.5 miles away), Mexican, Subway, Chinese, Starbucks and Luckys supermarket.
WELCOME to the 14's Singles Sectionals at Fremont Tennis Center Thank you for registering for the 14's Fall Singles sectionals at Fremont Tennis Center. This will run over 4 days, September 24th & 25th, October 1st & 2nd. All matches will be played at Fremont Tennis Center and the tournament desk will be located on the grassy area towards the back of the facility. Expectations for players - we believe players at this level should own their tennis therefore be 100% responsible checking in on time, reporting scores and being respectful towards tournament staff, officials, opponents and the sport. Expectations for parents - parents shall allow the tournament staff, officials and players to do their part to ensure smooth running of the tournament. They shall enjoy the matches, encourage all players and soak up the fantastic NorCal sunshine.

Draws and Matches
Draws and schedules were posted yesterday, please review the
schedule. Match formats are below. All players in the consolation
rounds are expected to play, suspension penalties will be assessed for any players
who withdraws from consolation rounds without a doctor’s note.
Main Draw (including 3rd &
4th place playoff)
• Best of 3 Tiebreak Sets
Consolation (including playoff
matches for 5th, 6th place matches)
• Best of 3 Tiebreak Sets with a 10-Point Match Tiebreak in
lieu of the 3rd set
Warm up courts
Warm up courts are available at Fremont Tennis Center 1 hour
prior to the start of the match on each day. Other City of Fremont
locations are attached however it is first come first served basis.
Communication and withdrawals
All withdrawals must be made via email (tennis@fremont.gov ) and phone
(510)790-5510. Any changes in match times will be communicated top
players via email or phone.
Videotaping of Matches
The City of Fremont video policy supersedes the USTA policy
as it’s a facility policy, there will be no videotaping of matches during the
tournament. Strict enforcement of this policy will be throughout the
tournament.

Match Information and Scheduling
Singles Draw and Match Format Information The singles draw size is limited to 64 players. A Feed-In Championship whereby players are fed into the consolation through the Round of 16 will be played. The losing quarterfinalists will play off for 5th and 6th place and a playoff for 3rd and 4th place will also be held. All main draw matches and the 3rd/4th playoff will be the best of 3 Tiebreak sets; all consolation matches (including the quarterfinal playoff matches) will be the best of 3 Tiebreak sets with a 10-Point Match Tiebreak played in lieu of the 3rd set. PLAYERS ARE EXPECTED TO PLAY CONSULATIONS DRAWS.
Entries, Draws & Scheduling Entries are closed and due to the number of entries we will not be accepting any late entries. Once the NorCal USTA Office has completed selections by Friday September 16th, you will receive notification of your selection status. Immediately following selection draws will be completed ready for scheduling, matche times will be published online by 5pm Tuesday September 22nd. All matches will be played at Fremont Tennis Center, 1110 Stevenson Blvd., Fremont. It is players responsibility to know the match times. Any changes in the draw & scheduling will be communicated through the tournament homepage, emails or phone.

Sectional Rules
Fall Singles Sectional Championships with Singles Events Only.
a. Singles Draw Size, Draw Format, and Playoff for Third Place. The singles event is limited to 64 players and will have a Feed-in Championship that feeds players in through the round of 16. The singles draw will also have a playoff for third and fourth place and the quarterfinal losers will play off for 5th and 6th place.
b. Selection for Singles.
Players will be selected for the Sectional Championships as follows:
(1) Players on Combined Sectional Final Ranking Lists.
60 players will be selected based on their ranking on the most recently published Combined Sectional Final Ranking List of the division of the event.
(2) Up to Four Wild Cards.
Up to four wild cards that may be selected by the Wild Card Committee as follows:
• To be considered for a Wild Card, a player must submit a timely entry into the tournament and apply for a Wild Card no later than the entry deadline (see tournament website for Wild Card application information).
• The Wild Card Committee will be comprised of two members of the NorCal junior staff and Chair of Junior Council.
Wild Cards do not have to be awarded.
(3) Additional Players on Combined Sectional Final Ranking List.
If the Wild Card Committee awards fewer than the maximum number of wild cards, the remaining spots in the draw will be filled with players remaining on the Combined Sectional Final Ranking List used to select players into the draw.
d. Alternates.
All players not selected will be placed on an Alternate List that is ordered using the Combined Sectional Final Ranking List used to select players into the draw. The Alternate Lists will be used to replace withdrawing players, except that a Late Entry may not be accepted into the draw if it invalidates the seeding.
e. Player Selection Publication Requirement. Unless delayed due to the availability of USTA NorCal staff to make singles selections, the singles selection lists will be published no later than the Friday following the Monday entry deadline. In the event of a delay, the publication date will be published to the tournament website.
f. Entry Fee. The entry fee for the Fall Sectional Championships with singles events only with will be a fee of $60 per player.

[2] Players will report directly to first match site, not
necessarily to the Fremont Tennis Center.
[3] Some matches will be played under lights.
[4] Additional sites will be used. Players are responsible for
transportation between sites
[5] On tournament days, withdrawals must be made by phone email. If
we cannot contact your opponent in time, late withdrawals may still
be recorded as a default.
[6] The tournament will NOT give authorization for concurrent
tournament registrations. We will enforce concurrent tournament
registration rules.

Players are selected manually by the tournament director after the close of registration.
Entry to this tournament is open to specified residents only. Entries must be submitted by Monday, September 12, 2016 11:59:00 PM Pacific Time. Only USTA members can register online if available.
