MEN'S DOUBLES UPDATE-Alternate List
Because of your fantastic response to the e-Blast sent out on the Doubles Sign-up process, the numbers this year were amazing! We are sorry that not everyone was able to get into the draw, but we ran out of spaces. However, the Tournament Committee will have an Alternate List at the Tournament Desk for anyone who wanted to play but didn't have a partner, in the event a space becomes available. Those who signed up on-line will be considered above those who signed up only for singles, and you must sign-up and be on-site should a space open up. Men's Doubles is scheduled for Sunday at 8 am.

TOURNAMENT FORMAT
All SINGLES and DOUBLES matches will use NO-AD scoring and a 10-point match tie-break will be played at one-set all in SINGLES. DOUBLES will be 8 game pro-sets. First-match-losers-consolation (FMLC) will be used. Warm-up will be 5 minutes. ITA RULES will be used.
|
ITA RULES WILL BE USED
ITA Rules may be found in the back of FRIEND AT COURT, the official Tennis Rule Book. The most important differences from USTA rules include: (1) OFFICIAL may only overrule on PLAYER APPEAL; (2) MEN play LET SERVES; (3) There are no bathroom breaks in MEN's ITA, but the official will inform of extra time allowed on change-overs or set-breaks; (4) MEN only are assessed a POINT for a MTO (Medical Time Out), however there is no point for treatment on change-overs.

FIRST MATCH LOSERS CONSOLATION (FMLC)
New in 2015! The ITA has chosen to replace the FIC (Feed-in Consolation) with the FMLC. This format will require your patience, as when the draw IS NOT FULL, then the next match time may be dependent on which player in the next rounds MD match loses. WHY? Three possibilities come to mind: the FLMC player's 1st opponent either (A) faces a player next who had a 1st round BYE, (B) he/she lost his 2nd match, or even (C) the player who would have occupied that spot withdrew/didn't show, leaving a BYE.in the consolation. If a FMLC player's 3rd round opponent faced a similar situation, then the match-up can be played at the 2nd round scheduled time; however, if this is not the case, the player receiving the BYE will have to wait for his/her opponent's 2nd round FLMC match to be played and be re-scheduled after appropriate rest. Thank you for your patience and understanding; with large events like the Summer Circuits, there is a possibility that things can get a little backed up on the 2nd day of play, and require some creativity in scheduling, but hopefully the above explanation will at least help it all make sense!
