We at Utah Tennis Association are excited to once again have the opportunity to host the USTA Boys' and Girls' 16 Zone Team Championships! This will be our 20th year of running this tournament and it is my favorite!

IT WILL BE HOT!
START HYDRATING AT HOME 48 HOURS BEFORE YOU TRAVEL TO SALT LAKE CITY. PLEASE BRING SUNSCREEN AND ANYTHING ELSE THAT YOU NEED TO HELP PREVENT TOO MUCH SUN. A WATER JUB, WHITE HAT, EXTRA WHITE SHIRTS AND A TOWEL ARE SUGGESTED.

TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE
WEDNESDAY - JULY 6th - Player Registration 2:00 to 3:30 PM. Coaches Meeting - 2:15 to 3:30 PM. MANDATORY PLAYER ORIENTATION AND SEMINAR - Parents are invited also - 3:30 to 5:00 PM. TEAM PICTURES - 5:00 to 5:30 PM. TEAM MEETINGS to follow team pictures. All of these activities will take place at the Salt Lake City Marriott University Park. See note on Hotels for the address. THURSDAY THRU SUNDAY - Practice starts at 7:00 AM and matches start at 8:00 AM. SATURDAY - JULY 9th - Movie night at the Marriott University Park, outside on the back lawn. SUNDAY - JULY 10th -TEAM PLAYER PARTY AND SPORTSMANSHIP AWARDS CEREMONY - ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY - 7:00 TO 9:00 PM. Players and Coaches are free. Parents and others who want to attend will need to purchase a ticket at the Tournament Desk no later than Thursday afternoon when the last match is completed, that is when I need to turn in the final count for the food. MONDAY JULY 11th - Last day of play. PLEASE SCHEDULE YOUR DEPARTURE FLIGHTS NO EARLIER THAN 4:00 PM. THE LAST MATCHES OF THE DAY WILL GO ON AT 1:00 PM.

MATCH FORMAT
Round Robin format. Each boy's or girl's team will have 6 players. Boy's and Girl's Teams will be combined. There will be two flights of six teams of combined boy's and girl's teams. Singles matches will be best of 3 Tiebreak sets. Doubles matches will be 8 Game Pro Sets with a 7 Point Tiebreak at 8 games all, no ad scoring. Singles matches count one point each. Doubles matches count one point each. Each mixed doubles match will count one point for the team score but not for ranking. Each team match consists of 18 points (12 singles plus 6 doubles). In the case of a 9-9 tie, the team that won the majority of the doubles matches will be declared the winner of the team match. In the case of a total tie (no majority winner of the doubles); the Section Coach will designate one boy and one girl to play a mixed doubles "Super Match Tie-Break" to determine the team match winner. Defaults, walkovers, withdrawals, and retirements count as losses. All singles and doubles matches MUST be played to completion.

OFFICIATING
Play will be subject to the rules of the USTA. The USTA Point Penalty System will be enforced throughout the tournament. UNSPORTSMANLIKE CONDUCT WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. A USTA Certified Referee and Certified Umpires will be present at all playing locations.

DRESS CODE
All tennis players will be required to wear appropriate tennis attire and dress in a manner consistent with the facilities expectations as well as the expectations of a participant in the USTA Boys' and Girls' 16 Zone Team Championships. Boys - no tank tops or very low riding shorts. Ladies - top and skirt must touch when standing. Cut off shorts, bare midriffs, compression shorts and tights (alone), or any other attire that is simply recreational and not tennis oriented is not acceptable. Questionable attire is subject to the Site Director's discretion.

DEPARTURE TIME
TO ALLOW TIME TO GET TO THE AIRPORT, PLEASE SCHEDULE YOUR DEPARTURE FLIGHT FOR 4:00 PM OR LATER!! The last matches on Monday are scheduled to start at 1:00 PM. It will take you approximately 25 minutes to get to the airport, plus add AT LEAST one hour to go through check-in and Security.

TRAINER
A Trainer will be available on site at the Eccles Tennis Center and at Liberty Park 1/2 hour before matches start until 1/2 half hour after matches are completed each day of play.

Players are selected manually by the tournament director after the close of registration.
Entry to this tournament is restricted. To see how entrants will be selected, follow the “Selection Process” link to the left.
