Open and novice divisions (or also referred to as Ranked and
Unranked divisions)
If a player is able to rally, serve and keep score, unranked
divisions in level 5 tournaments are a good way to begin playing
competitive tennis. Unlike Open divisions, ranking points are not
earned for matches won in unranked divisions. If you have any
questions, please feel free to email us at
Administration@AsAndAces.org.
Important information regarding this tournament
Our goal is to schedule matches so that no player will have to miss
school for the tournament (i.e. if you have a long way to travel,
we will try to schedule your first match on Saturday or, if a
Friday match is necessary, not before 5:30 pm). Tournament play
will begin on Friday, April 17, 2015, for draws with entries
greater than 8 players. Otherwise, play will begin Saturday
morning.
Play will conclude on Sunday, April 19, 2015.
The BG 14-18 divisions will only have 'Open' singles division. The
BG 10s and 12s divisions will have 'Open' and ''Unranked" singles
divisions, but only 1 doubles division (no differentiation between
Open and Novice for doubles) for each age group. The 8 & under
division only has unranked (novice) singles.
Lunch: All players will be provided with a ticket to get a
free lunch (hamburgers/hot-dogs provided and cooked on site by
Kiwanis Dawn Busters on Saturday) and available for purchase by
others.
A Subway store is located a few blocks from the tennis center at
9954 Lake Forest Blvd.
Doubles information
When signing up for doubles, you must enter your partner's USTA
number. Also, BOTH partners must sign up indicating each other as
partners or they cannot be placed into the draw because we cannot
assume you are playing doubles if your partner lists you as his/her
partner but you do not sign up.
If you would like us to try to find you a doubles partner, please
email us as soon as possible (no later than by Sunday, April 12) at
Administration@AsAndAces.org.
Doubles will be played on Saturday and Sunday. The singles draws
will be posted on Thursday, April 16th, and the doubles draws as
soon thereafter as possible, but at least by Friday.
Attention Boys and Girls 12's Unranked (Novice)
Divisions
The Louisiana Tennis Association has passed a new tournament
regulation regarding the 12's. The novice 12's will use the green
dot ball in all their matches. If you have any questions feel free
to email Administration@AsAndAces.org .
Special Rules for Boys and Girls 10's and 8's
The BG 10s division will be played on the 60' court with orange
balls. Players must use rackets no longer than 25".
The BG 8s will be played on the 36' court with red balls and
rackets no longer than 23".
With sufficient entries, there will be boys and girls draws.
Otherwise, BG 8s will be a co-ed event.

For parents new to tournaments
After you sign up for the tournament, your credit card will not be
charged until after the deadline for everyone to register for the
tournament closes. For this tournament, Monday, April 13, 2015 is
the deadline (1 minute before midnight) and the entries will be
processed on Tuesday, which is when your credit card will be
charged.
Be prepared to play all weekend. With unpredictable weather,
matches may have to be shortened, moved, etc., to adjust for such
conditions. These tournaments are for the children, and we will do
everything we can to help you with anything you do not know or need
help with. Feel free to email Administration@AsAndAces.org with any
questions before the tournament starts.
Please have your child check in at the tournament desk at least
30 minutes prior to your child's first scheduled match time. If
courts are open, we will put your child's match on sooner and help
keep the tournament on schedule. Please keep in mind that there is
a 15 minute default period under USTA rules. A player who does not
check in by the time he/she is scheduled to play, will be put on
the clock for being late and penalized according to the rules in
relation to the untimeliness. After 15 minutes, the match is then
defaulted and your child will not get to play the match. This is
why it is so important to check in early and plan to arrive early
in case there is traffic or an accident or anything that can delay
you arriving early/on-time.
USTA Medical Release Form
All participants MUST sign a USTA Medical Release Form before
he/she steps on the court. We will have these sheets at check-in to
fill out when you check in or you can go to
http://louisianatennis.com/jr-competition, fill the form, and bring
it with you.
Scoring
Doubles will play an 8-game pro-set.
There is no 3/4 playoffs in the singles or the doubles.
All Novice divisions will play 2 sets with a 3rd set match
tiebreaker (first to 10 points winning by 2) in lieu of the 3rd
set, for both main draw and consolation matches.
Open divisions will play 2 out of 3 full sets in the main draw, but
a 3rd set tiebreaker to 10 winning by 2 for the consolation
rounds.
Boys and Girls 10 Open and Novice will play sets to 4 with a
7-point tiebreaker at 4-4. The sets will use no ad scoring. If they
split sets, there is a 7-point tiebreaker played in place of the
third set. NO coaching allowed before the 3rd set tiebreaker.
Checking in
Players need to check in for their 1st match AT LEAST 30 minutes
prior to the scheduled time. We will have Medical Release Forms
as well as a Parent Alert that needs to be signed BEFORE your
son/daughter(s) step onto the court. We will also have their
tournament player packet (tournament program, lunch ticket,
etc.).
Seeding
Seeding is done for Open divisions only. Unraked (Novice) divisions
do not have seeds.
Notes
Water Bottles: Players are advised to bring a water bottle.
Rain Policy: In the event of rain, the tournament will reschedule
