12 & Under
New for 2015, players will not be
allowed to compete in a North Carolina Level 3 tournament in the 12U division
unless they have accumulated at least 300 ranking points in North Carolina at
the time selections are made. The North Carolina Junior Tournament Committee
put this rule in place to be sure that players are developing properly in the
correct pathway (from 10U Orange). All North Carolina state L4s and L5s use
green ball in the 12s, so the player has to earn their way into a North
Carolina L3 in 12U yellow ball.

divisions will be limited to 32 players. Selection Process:
-->The top players applying from the USTA/NC most current
standings list will be selected into the draw.
WATERFALL SYSTEM: In 2013, all North Carolina Level 3 Tournaments will adopt the “waterfall system”. Taking cost and school day factors into account, this allows tournaments to be completed in just two days and provides players with the opportunity to earn more ranking points. Each division that has 24 or more, players will be split into two separate draws. Players will then be "waterfalled" into two balanced draws based on the selection lists in the following order: Red: 1,4,5,8,9,12,13,16,17,20,21,24,25,28,29,32. White: 2,3,6,7,10,11,14,15,18,19,22,23,26,27,30,31. Selections will be made using the most up to date NC Standings. Seeds will be determined using NCTA Seeding Criteria after the waterfall is done. The format is FIC (Feed-In Consolation through QF). All matches will play a 10-point match tiebreaker instead of a full 3rd set. There will be a playoff for 3rd and 4th place. Consolation finals will NOT be played out. Both players who reach the finals of consolatio

JUNIOR SUSPENSION POINTS FOR FAILURE TO COMPLETE A TOURNAMENT: The number of players not completing all matches in a tournament is very high. There are numerous withdrawals once the draws are posted, and many walkovers in the consolations. Penalty points are imposed for failure to complete a tournament. Failure to play a match is unfair and costly to opponents, & unsportsmanlike. Because the NCTA realizes the importance of school to the players a school exempt clause is included. (Revised 10/10) 1. After the tournament online deadline, failure for a JUNIOR player to complete a tournament for ANY reason other than retirement during a match due to injury/illness = 1 Point 2. Any withdrawal after the tournament online registration deadline receives points. 1 point for main draw & 1 point for consolation = 2 points 3. This tournament is a Great Sports Event
Tennis comes with a bloodline of
sportsmanship that few other sports can match. Even though there are
officials roving the courts, it is still an un-officiated sport.
* Always
give the benefit of doubt to your opponent on a close line call.
* Make
calls against yourself, such as a double-bounce or touching the net while
the point is in progress.
* Call
out the score every point.
* Congratulate
your opponent on great shots.
* Parents
– be good sports outside the court.
* And
win or lose, end the match with a removal of hats and a handshake at the
net!
To reward the good sports at our
tournament the officials or directors will be handing out pins to players who
exhibit great sportsmanship and uphold the tradition of honor in our
sport.
Good luck to everyone!
