Attention Players!!!
All matches from Saturday the 20th that didn't start or finish due to the rain and lightning will resume at 8:00 am Sunday the 21st. All matches that were started will finish using the 2 out of 3 set format. Consolation matches that didn't start and all of the remaining rounds of the consolation will be played using a match tie break for the 3rd set. This change in scoring format is being made so that we can complete all rounds of the tournament.

WHAT’S NEW FOR JUNIOR TOURNAMENTS IN 2014
USTA Northern California recently announced some significant changes and enhancements to the section's Junior Tournament structure that will take effect on January 1, 2014. USTA National, in an effort to improve the national junior tournament experience for thousands of young players throughout the country, has also made numerous changes to the National Junior Competition Structure that will take effect on January 1, 2014. Sectional Championships
The Sectional Championships offer the highest tier of competition for the advanced player in the 12, 14, 16, and 18 divisions. Each event is designated as a Level 3 National Ranking Tournament. All events use a yellow ball on a 78’ court and a player’s racquet may not exceed 29” in length.

Singles Draw Size, Draw Format, and Playoff for Third Place
The singles event shall be limited to 64 players and shall have a Feed-in Championship that feeds players in through the round of 16. The singles draw shall also have a playoff for third and fourth place and the quarterfinal losers will play off for 5th, 6th, and 8th place.

Selection for Singles
Players shall be selected for the Sectional Championships as follows: (1) Players on Combined Sectional Final Ranking Lists. 60 players shall be selected
based on their ranking on the most recently published Combined Sectional Final Ranking
List of the division of the event.
(2) Up to Four Wild Cards. Up to four wild cards that may be selected by the Wild Card
Committee as follows:
• To be considered for a Wild Card, a player must submit a timely entry into the
tournament and apply for a Wild Card no later than the entry deadline (see tournament
website for Wild Card application information).
• The Wild Card Committee shall be comprised of the Player Development Specialist, Junior
Competition Coordinator, and Chair of Junior Council. Wild Cards do not have to be awarded.
(3) Additional Players on Combined Sectional Final Ranking List. If the Wild Card Committee awards fewer than the maximum number of wild cards, the remaining spots in the draw shall be filled with players remaining on the Combined Sectional Final Ranking List used to select players into the draw.

Alternates:
All players not selected shall be placed on an Alternate List that is ordered using the Combined Sectional Final Ranking List used to select players into the draw. The Alternate Lists shall be used to replace withdrawing players, except that a Late Entry may not be accepted into the draw if it invalidates the seeding.

Seeding:
The Junior Competition Coordinator shall seed singles events at the Sectional Championships after consulting with the Tournament Committee. The most recently published Singles Seeding Lists shall be used as a start for determining seeding. National USTA, ITF, ITA, WTA, and ATP rankings and standings will also be considered.

Match and Scoring Formats:
All singles matches shall use the best of 3 tiebreak sets format. Regular scoring shall be used.

Draw completion and posting:
The draw will be completed by the scheduling referee and Tournament Director and posted by 10 am on Wednesday September 17th by 10:00 am. Any changes or delays will be posted on the tournament website.

PRACTICE COURTS:
There will be practice courts available at UOP, and Brookside before the first round of each day. Delta College which is less than 5 minutes from each site has 12 courts that are open to the public. Click the link for Delta College info..

Parking:
UOP- On weekends parking is available in the lot next to the courts. Please park in marked spaces only!! If the lot is full additional parking is available along Brookside Rd and at the church which is just past the entry to the tennis facility. Brookside- Parking is available at the tennis courts. Additional parking is available in the lot across the street.

Ball type:
Penn Championship Balls will be used for all matches. Three balls will be given and players will be given a new can for third sets.

Attire:
Proper tennis clothing and non-marking shoes are required for this event.

Court surface:
All matches will be played on outdoor hard courts.

Players are selected manually by the tournament director after the close of registration.
