WHAT IS UNIVERSALTENNIS RATING (UTR)?
All NorCal tournament players are already rated with the
UTR!
The use of the UT Ratings ensures that players can
find level appropriate competition, and allows players to understand their
level and track their long term development in tennis. UTR lives up to its name
because it includes data from all ITF world junior events, WTA, ATP events. ITF
pro circuits tournaments, as well as all ITA College tennis data.
With the use of UTR juniors can find out their
level in tennis, on a global scale, similar to a golf handicap, a karate belt
color, or a time in swimming/running etc. What's even more relevant is that our
juniors can use UTR to help navigate the college tennis recruiting process.
Having up-to-date and accurate UT Ratings gives
college coaches a precise look at NorCal players that they are recruiting. This
mechanism can help our players be noticed by college coaches and also
facilitate their ability to stand out amongst other juniors who do not have an
accurate UT Rating.
To learn more about UTR or to look up your players
rating, go here: http://www.norcal.usta.com/Juniors/usta_norcal_announces_partnership_with_universal_tennis_ratings/

MOVE UP/DOWNPOLICY (APPLIES TO MAY, JULY AND NOVEMBER SUPER SERIES ONLY)
SPECIAL
SELECTION INFORMATION FOR FUTURE SUPER SERIES
In each of the Super Series compass draws of 8, two players win/win
(finalists of East) and two players lose/lose (players in South draw).
Win/Win
Players:
Regardless of rating at the time of selection, the
win/win players must play the next-higher flight in the next Super Series
entered, except that if the win/win players in the top flight shall stay in the
top flight. This includes the winners of
the top flight in the 14s division who must play in the bottom flight of the
18s division in the next Super Series they enter.
Lose/Lose
Players:
Regardless of rating at the time of selection, the
lose/lose players must play the next-lower flight in the next Super Series
entered.
If the two players that lose/lose in the bottom 18s division flight are
age eligible for the 14s division draw of the next Super Series, they may opt
to either play in the top 14s division flight or they may re-enter the 18s division
and are not eligible for selection into the lowest 18s division flight unless
the draw is not full without them.
Players that lose/lose in the bottom 18s division draw that are not age
eligible for the 14s division draw may enter the 18s division and are not
eligible for selection into the lowest 18s division flight unless the draw is
not full without them.
The two players that lose/lose in the bottom 14s division flight are not
eligible for selection into the lowest 14s division flight unless the draw is
not full without them.
